Well it depends on were you ride, what tires you have and how much you weigh.
Right now I am running 25psi in the front and 30psi in the back.

The optimal tire pressure depends on your weight, your bike, the place you're riding, your riding style, and the conditions. It's somewhere between 15psi and 55psi.

OP, ^^ thats the only answer to your question, yet the one you didn't want to hear...

Take a pump when you ride, experiment...

Hit the nail rite on the head. The only other thing you forgot to mention, is tire volume. 20psi in a skinny little 1.95 is a lot different than 20psi in a 3.0.

I usually try to run around 20psi front and rear, less if it is muddy and wet.

Tire pressure for me really depends on the type of ground, if its wet I run my tires a little softer to get traction but on the hard pack pump them higher for for some rolling speed.

Some tires will roll off the rim at 15 PSI, some work best at 15 PSI. Gotta be specific. I run 40 PSI just for better rolling resistance, but still a fair amount of bite.
