My buddy makes trips to the states for people, sells the bike for more than he paid and charges a delivery fee. Made decent penny when he did it.

But how? Wouldn't they stop you at the border?

you can buy bikes from the states, its fine and legal.

but no contingency money is paid in canada to bikes that were bought in the US.
anybody can go down there and buy a bike and bring it back, same as cars, boats, etc...
just make sure you get the title or they may not let you cross the border with it.
