How do you face your fears off going off big jumps?

I've got a DH buddy I always ride with and he's happy to try most things that I'm not so sure about. So he tells me I have to do a jump that I'm crapping myself about and the thing we always do is let him set the pace and I follow close behind. This means, unless a bear rugby tackles me, there is a huge chance if he makes it I'll make it!

Another key thing, know your bike. I'm still getting to know my Giant Glory so its a bit tricky at the moment. But, the more you ride and push yourself and bike, the more you'll get to know the bike, and your limits.

Great minds think alike! Always good to have a 'better' rider to give you some much needed guidance.

what I do is get my adrenaline going, and just go for it. I find with a large amount of adrenaline pumping, crashing doesn't hurt.

i can never land anything with adrenaline. i need to be as calm as possible before i do any sort of jump/drop/dh run or i crash

Stay calm and don't think, just do. Over thinking things is when it goes wrong

That. deep breath, concentrate on the trick/gap/drop, and just throw it.

For me works quite well when somebody else (maybe someone I think is not that good on bike) takes that jump...
Then I just think to myself: fckk, that dude can, and I can't? Nooo way, I'm going for it.

And also - If I crash, I take it again immediately bcs: Stupid jump, I will take revenge! You are going down!

Something tike that...

But if I'm alone... damn - it's difficult.

Camera works, a gf works too Big Grin you just need to do it! Big Grin

i concentrate on relaxing popping off the lip normally. first time hitting something im nervous about i like to deliberately overshoot it by a bit. better than casing on most jumps.

stupid idea, riding trails brakeless is f*cking hard because you need to judge your speed. Brakes are good.

In my opinion you will never "face your fears". You just eventually get used to whatever you're doing.

Best tip from me? Take small steps up so the next jump/gap/trail or whatever you're riding isn't that much harder. So it feels like it's something you're familiar with because of the small step up in "difficulty".
