Just started working in a shop, and wow, some people are just ridiculous. But I'm sure everything I've gone through everyone else probably already has. Blank Stare
Its amazing though, the amount of people that will buy 6 new tubes for 30 bucks instead of just patching one with a 3 dollar kit.

Because patches are temporary, and roadies will carry spares on their bike and done at home in case.

I know some roadies will just buy tubes because its a quick change, but I'd just get 2 tubes, and then just patch them when I get home... Not that hard and it saves me lots of money. 90% of flats are patchable in my experience.

I had a guy in the other day that bought 12 inner tubes because he couldnt be bothered to patch a couple of them.

most of the flats i get though arent patch able... hence why i have 6 spare tubes Razz

Patches also have to have the time to adhere properly, and are the biggest waste of time. IMO.

Throw a new tube in and she's done until she blows again.

Yup. Quicker, and will leave you doubtless you solved your air pressure issues.

Maybe I'm just more 'frugal' (cheap) and more of an enviro-hippy than you guys lol
Just seems like such a waste of rubber and $$ to me. The five minutes patches take are worth it to me.

I take my old tubes and use them for tieing crap together (Bundling a bunch of long dowels) and the amount of tubes I go through is minimal. Most tubes can get sent back and re-cycled so..

im running patched tubes in my iron horse. front and rear. rocking 25psi ish front and rear, have ridden a total of about 10 full days in the bike park and four or five days on the shore and i have yet to have a problem. if you patch little punctures right, with good patches, there is no reason it's not going to be permanent.
