This should also be a wake up call to anyone running an old helmet. What price do you put on your safety?
Please give the lad my best, a mate of mine recently (and still is) going through spinal cord damage, dude is walking etc now but still cant hold a fork and knife himself

Kid was like a little brother to me...

There's a little dude that raced 12 Ex, reaching the prime of his skills, etc. One chain snap took away the ability for him to ride a bike ever again. His chain snapped and he went head first into a face of a jump. Hit so hard that his helmet shattered, and now if he gets any trauma to the head, the likelihood that he makes it out alive is zero.

Poor kid Frown puts me into shock knowing that all anyone can do is watch over him.

Who is it if you don't mind me asking Colin? You can PM me or something as to not post the full name on here.

I haven't taken her out to the track yet, but here is my '97 Santa Cruz Jackal 24" racer.

Don't need chain tensioners actually. 167.5mm cranks don't put out enough torque to shift the wheel in the frame.

It's manageable. Don't even dare go all engineer on me.

The randomest stuff will make your wheel shit in the dropouts. You'd be surprised.

Nothing surprises me anymore after over 10 years of working on bikes for a living.

There's always a new surprise.

So you're saying that if a tire burst right beside your ear, that wouldn't surprise you?

lol

No need to act cocky and give an e-penis measurement over a suggestion of chain tensioners. The good thing is that while you say you're sure you don't need them, they are probably one of the most undervalued parts on the market.

I think he was moreso stating he's been around bikes for a while, and he's found he doesn't need tensioners.

Eh, once an underestimated part, always an underestimated part.

Eh, once you find you don't need it once, you typically don't need it after. Haven't run tensioners in ages, never found a reason to.

I ran only one for a while. Rear wheel still slipped. That was on 170mm cranks, so not much off his.
