if this is your cross training. what is your primary racing?
I haven't started any kind of racing yet, I would love to race downhill but due to school and how flat my area is I think bmx racing would be a better thing to start out on considering I got 3 bmx tracks in my city.
I plan on building a race bmx this fall/winter. I will be using it as fitness tool but aswell as doing some racing on it in the up coming season. Alittle about me, I am 6 foot 2 and I weigh in at 180 pounds (this number will change frquently) I do like a shorter frame I feel I got more control.
Here are the specs, let me know if there are things I should change and why, I am a noob to the bmx race scene. Budget, I would like to keep it around 1600 mark or less would be great.
Frame: S&M 38. Special in black (21.25") Seatpost: Supercross Carbon post Seatclamp: S&M XLT Bottem Bracket: Profile External Brake: Tektro Donny Robinson Sig Brake Chain Ring: Profile Elite (44 tooth ??) Fork: S&M Race XLT-T Grips: ODI longneck Bars: S&M Race XLT Headset: FSA Impact Seat: Tioga Stem: S&M redneck XLT Tires: Maxxis DHT folding (2.20 front and back ?) Cranks: Profile cranks 180mm Wheelset: Bombshell BMX BL Expert Cassette Wheels
Nice build, I would suggest you go a bigger frame (21.5).... 21.25 is enny for someone your/my height
What is the advantage to having a tad longer frame ?? just cruious, on my street/park bmx I am running a 21" top tube and on my slopestyle bike I am running the short model.

More room to move about on the bike and makes it abit more stable
I'm thinking about buying the ghp 2013's black frame with yellow decals. and an eleven fork.. I'm tired of my answer dagger that could snap any moment
Do it!
I probably will.. But if i have to wait on the new 2013 frames i would probably wait an other half year.. so i'm waiting for a reply if they have an black pro xl ghp frame in stock from this year. Kinda sucks.. Looks like ghp doesn't have good contact with their dealers! My dealer is waiting more than 2 weeks for a email about the new frames, still has no email :/

Any S&M product is good. Because youre 180 pounds you can't run an eleven race fork 7.0. In that case the difference between an S&M and a eleven racefork 8.0 is that the elven is 20 gramm lighter... So almost nothing. I would probably go for a rennen chainring. I'm running 44-16 gearing. I have also an redneck xlt stem. And personally i'm not into s&m bars.. But that's just personally i like my bars straight lined. And i recommand a smaller dth front tire 1.95 and rear 1.75. (I have front and back 1.75) But it also depends on what kind of tracks you have.. Smaller tires means more speed, but a bit less control.

I'm 5'9" and I ride a 21.5) Seatpost: Supercross Carbon post Seatclamp: S&M XLT Bottem Bracket: Profile External Brake: Tektro Donny Robinson Sig Brake Chain Ring: Profile Elite (44 tooth ??) The bolded are what I would change personally. Bombshell expert wheelsets are definitely meant for people that aren't our size... You're going to want a 20x1.95 DTH front, and a 20x1.75 DTH rear.
EDIT- And you know what? Shoot me a PM.
I'm the distributor of Avent, Bombshell, Yess, Hawk Bottom Brackets in Alberta sooooo I can work with you no problem.
I'd love a black one,those are sweet,but pricey....
You're crazy Chris King - $125 - OK, but mediocre and over rated bottom bracket Hawk - $100 - Absolutely the ONLY bottom bracket you will use for the rest of your life. They're durable, lighter than King, and probably will last for the rest of your life.
