Thinking about giving clipless a try, requesting pedal and shoe recomendations.

185lbs, cruiser class, for what it's worth.

Thank.

Shimano AM45, 661 filter or Vans Warner for shoes. Shimano DX for pedal

Any Redline Complete is pretty top notch.

GT Speed Series completes, there's a couple more but those are the two I find are the best spec'd for their price.

+1 can't go wrong with a higher end Redline

BMXERCH, is there any videos of you riding around on pinkbike?

Nope, just pictures lol

My parents buy a super expensive camera... Doesn't take videos. lol
By the description in your photo's it seems to be a Canon t2i, which is by no means "Super Expensive" and does in fact record videos! Cheers!

TIME. Only pedal you should EVER use. X ROC if you want simple and inexpensive, X ROC S if you want adjustability.

Shoe wise, Shimano AM45 is a great shoe, but you'll have to try a bunch on to see what you like the most.

Why is Time the only pedal you should ever use?

Super-dooper-pooper-scooper reliable, smooth as butter, good price, near-impossible to clog (not that that's an issue with BMX, but still), can take a hell of a beating, and the cleats last ages. So yeah, they're pretty good, I guess.

I could say the same about my dx. I would say they are both pretty even.

Fair enough. If you're happy with what you've got, then you don't really need anything new. That said, Time are the only clipless pedals I've ever used, and I've been nothing but satisfied.

Because they have 13-17 degrees of float, not just 5 or whatever small amount Shitmano DX's have. Don't get me wrong, Shimano has good stuff, just not pedals. Times are more reliable, easier to get in, easier to clip out- WHEN YOU NEED TO AND WANT TO. A blown clip was why I didn't get out of quarters at worlds in '07, blew it and got back to fifth or sixth, because it blew down I had Shimano pedals, I switched to TIME and ever since then I haven't un clipped on accident once. They are a better designed pedal, you HAVE to be super straight with them, but that's not the way 3/4's of the people that race, ride their bike.

Super straight with Shimano ** sorry.

I know a lot of people that have made the switch and will never go back, and now that TIME's brought out the X ROC S with adjustability, more people are going to it.

That's just personal, i like that 5 degrees float instead of more.. I rode with crank brothers for just a week. That was enough to realise that i like my dx pedals.

Best pedals ever ridden: Crank Brothers Mallet 2. They're so reliable and so comfy. I haven't blown out once and they're holding up so nice. There is much float, but you get used to that pretty fast and actually I appreciate it very much now. Go for Crank Bros even though they are a bit expensive, they are worth every dime, cent, penny or whatever kind of coins you're flippin.

I like my vans warner but I won't buy them next time I'm up for new shoes. I think I'll go with 5.10 this time cause I don't feel at home in my Vans. The Shimano AM shoes is by far the best shoes I've had. Lasted me 2 years of hardcore abuse!

Thanks for the pedal and shoe recommendations, but now how about chains? What's everyone using?
