Looks like no riding for me for a couple weeks. Probably my fourth time at the track this year, but for some reason was feeling brave, tried to jump something I haven't tried before, ended up crashing and dislocating my right shoulder
Woo, just found out I've qualified for world in 17-24 cruiser category. Only raced nationals/regionals on my single speed fourcross/DJ bike for a bit of extra practise for 4x but did good seems like I'm gonna have to get an actual cruiser now
That's a great first bike. really nice. Lots of people run DXR brakes, but I don't see the advantage. I've got Avids on one bike and I've had Deore and XT brakes on another and they worked great.
They're comfy. I had many brakes and always went back to Dxr because I liked the feel of the lever a lot more, I'm a finger on rider so that had a lot to do with it.
there is a good video of graves talking about how to get your gates good. Agree with Bmxerch though, being aggressive and confident is the most important thing though.
went for a first ride on my bike and feel i need a bit more reach out front anyone got any suggestions for a 53mm stem looking at all the options a little lost on whats any good? All I know if I dont want something super chunky like this s&m one
Purchased a 2nd hand 24" cruiser today to get into racing. It has 25t/9t gearing on it which is more suited to 20". Was reading that most racers usually run around 55 gear inches. To kept the 9t driver that would mean a 22t sprocket but A) pretty hard to find & B) chain would just about be rubbing on the chainstay. The hub is a Proper hub with 9t driver. Is it possible to put something like a 11 - 12t driver on this hub? Proper website is down at the moment (under construction). I see they list a 9t or 10t driver for it but would any other brand driver work?

Rennen makes 22t sprockets just for your information
Due to chain stretch, I've now got a really long wheelbase. I didn't get time to take two links out before hitting the track, but actually ended up quite liking it.
What are the pros and cons of a long wheelbase? Pro: more pump when manualling Pro: More stable at speed Con: Less snap out of the gate (minimal) Con: Less sharp steering Anything else?
The less snap out of the gate thing I find to be a crock. My avent had a huge rear end and it was the nicest bike fe gates I ever had. Period. 15.125 I ran the rear at. Huge by some people's standards.
Cornering I also didn't notice a whole lot of effect but again, I like a huge bike.
In the process of building up a new 20" at the moment and also getting a cruiser soon Cruiser is only temporary as I'm just getting one for Worlds so have found a redline mx 24 mega cheap and know that I'll be able to sell it on for more after so that's kinda cool.
As for the 20", I'm building up the ABD Team frame (Comes with E thirteen cranks and a pretty nice rear hub) and then just buying parts for that as and when I get money. Should hopefully be complete within the next month or so
