I think it'd be cool if pinkbike had a "trail section" or something simular. A place to find places to ride. We should be able to submit/post trails, rate them and review them. If we all added trails we'd have a huge trail database. This might not be possible but maybe pinkbike could have something like My Tracks (android app that records movement like biking).

The logistics of this is easy, but what happens in short is some kid finds or gets invited to a set, posts the location on pb and it gets raped by strangers, trails are secret for a reason, keep a shovel in the ground, an ear to the floor and make friends and a world of great set opens up to you. We have enough dedicated builders on pb who would be happy for you to contact them directly...
+1. its sort of enabling people to post the location of and ride secret or private trails and never even lift a shovel, leaving the builders to clean up the mess. itll also cause way too much bike traffic in and out of the area, leaving secret trails exposed, and authorities will soon catch on.

You've got a good point. Maybe they could only have public and common trails. It'd suck if someones secret trails were blown by some kid. This might be too much for pinkbikes staff, but when someone posts a trail pinkbike could confirm/decline the trail so people aren't adding anything dumb or somebodies secret trails. Just an idea

it just wont work in a way that wont compromise the location of secret trails. if you want to know where some trails are, just PM the people tht dig there or post about them and dont come across as a douche, and they might just let you ride there.
True, true. I guess if pinkbike made a trail section they shouldnt have the post your own location feature. I'm sure that'd piss a lot of builders off if their trails were discovered. I know i'd be POed if someone ruined my trails

yeah but then again, someone could post trails they were invited to or found orwhatever, and were kept on the down low, and now everyone knows about them.
again, use PMs if you want to ride someones trails.
I mean posting about trails is good, sites like build the woods, and now getabmx (which i am featured on, wooh) allow the builders to submit their trails, and contact info, along with the location if they s wish... for example i put "south east quarter of the m25 circuit" The sites are out there, and i like how their method shows roughly where the trails are on a map, but sites like extremesportsmap, are shit, giving locations to top secret sets in the past...
Say there was one mod who looked after all this, or even a post your trails section with train info, pictures, and a rough map (pins on an interactive world map, but nothing too precise) then contact info of the main guys.
Honestly though i think it would be an awesome project to map every single one of the worlds trails on one big map, again though it couldn't be too precise, so no exact coordinates. But im sure you know what i mean, like dots on a map of the uk, even zoomable to say a city such as london, or a county like surrey you couldnt find the trails (particularly if there were no road markings on the publicly viewable map)
It would need some tweaking but i do like this idea of making the trails community more accessible

i would hope the location would be vague, like what town its in ect and then like you said have contact info for the owners of it so they can meet in the town centre and take you to it, if they dont like you or you look like your just gonna destroy them they can tell you where to go
you dont even need trail info... maybe just click it and one picture of the set pops up... no need for it to be removed as no actual location is disclosed... no landmarks to reference where the set is
Fact; there will never be a section for trails. A ton of the trails out there are illegal, so if we were to bring that out, we know MANY trails would be poached or covered over.
