Name any bike and somebody will come up with photos/stories of broken frames. Fact is any frame is capable of being busted in half and if you ride DH you've got to expect it might happen, but it's not the norm. Kona make the Stab for everything DH racing is gonna dish up, so if you want one, go ahead and buy one.
big hit spec

Yea dude i know you just want some info about them but this is not the place to get it... Threads about kona's just bring out every kona hater in the world...

The TRUTH is a few of these dudes are right... There are way way more kona's out there then almost any other bike and all bikes break... look at the v-10...

They are good frames but use em for what there meant for... The stab is a dh race bike not a huck bike or a freeride bike... if your going to freeride get a stinky if u like the Kona line up..

Bingo. Think about your riding style and choose a bike according to that.

exactly and in the KONA website the Stab is under the COMPETETION section... no in the OUT-OF-BOUNDS page...
Well said!

true dat. fabien pedemaud broke 8 commencal front triangles in his world cup season last year. beat that. i'd also like to add that i am a patriotic south african and that he hasnt yet broken one morewood proto frame.:P konas are great bikes beside what everyone says. essentially they are single pivot bikes and suffer from the same problems as Orange, Commencal, Turner, Rocky mountain and many more successful bikes out there. with regards to strength, you might get a bad one that breaks easily but that isnt very likely. i personally have never seen a broken kona even though in the race scene over here there are 3 2001 stab primos(2 of them are my bro's and mine) and another 3 1999 kona stab dee lux's. although the latter arent nice bikes in my opinion, they are strong and still light(my old one was 38lb). i have never seen one cracked or broken even though the bikes are between 7 and 9 years old.
