first of all noone reall told him what to do to make this bike better they just said get a new bike, but seen as how i dont know how much quid is in canadian dollars i dont know how much he has to spend therefore i cant really recommend anything.
i would say start with new bars and stem(if u are on a budget look on chainreactioncycles.com and look at the brand x dh bars and atomlab G.I stem). Then i would get new cranks and Bottom Bracket. then wheels. then forks and then a new frame.
not gonna be getting much with that... so i would suggest saving over the winter months, and look for a new fs frame at the beginning of next season. 300 pounds would get you quite a lot, seeing as the exchange rates are so favorable to you...
did you only get m4 rotors? or the whole brake? if you just got rotors, you will probably be looking at new adapters, in which case, it may be worth it to replace the brakes with some decent hydros.
then bars, stem, and cranks look pretty bad... i cant tell what the rest of the drive train is, but if it shifts, just keep it for now. drive trains dont last too long on fr bikes anyway.
your wheels dont look bad, and your tires look decent, but old jr.t's werent the strongest things ever made.
to get this to a good freeride bike will probably cost you 1000 pounds, but for the moment, a new frame and shock is in order, so save up and look for some deals on second hand frames.

awsome! i only got the rotors but for my weight i think they shud be powerfull wnuf with my bb7's. and about the strength of the forks im not very heavy... and my biggest drop ive ever doe is only about 5" but wha sort of frame would you recomend? like travel-wise.. im only 5"1
if i were you i would buy a hardtail frame ... you get more for your money because you are not paying for a shock aswell and it teaches you to be a smoother rider.(i freeride on a 100mm travel hardtail)
