have had a blood vessel rupture in the left eye, the blood stays in the inner fluid part of the eye in front of the macula so it affects vision as your eye has to see through the blood floating in the usually clear fluid ( like looking through a lens with a splotch on it ) the eye has very slow circulation so it could potentially take months for this to clear out on its own ( after some laser surgery sessions to close the ruptures ) so a steriod was injected to help clear out the blood and retun the vision to normal... I likely have another one in a few weeks * shudder *

So here I am again!!! 8 months ago I broke my leg very badly (look back a few pages and you will find the post). I had a bunch of hardware installed and even after following all prescribed treatments and working my ass of in physio, I was not able to get my mobility back to the point where I could go back to work. My surgeon suggested that we take the hardware out a bit early as my leg looked like it was healing well and there was a good chance that the hardware was limiting my mobility. After thinking about it for a while, I decided to go for it. BAD DECISION! 2 or 3 days after having the hardware removed, both my tib and fib broke again. The worst part was I did't even know it as I had just had surgery so I thought the pain was normal. I crutched around for another 12 days with a broken leg until I went in to have my sutures taken out. Obviously that is when I found out and was schedule for emergency surgery the next day. And to top it all off, not only did I have to have a bunch of hardware re-installed, but they took a bone graft from my pelvis to help my leg heal. 3 more days spent in hospital (and WAY MORE pain) and another spring summer shot all to hell.

If it wasn't for the fact that I have a family that I need to support, I would have. Unfortunately, even though I am lucky enough to have a good disability benefit through work, it isn't enough!

ahhh fair enough. could you claim compensation for the hospital reccomending treatment that made it worse?

Posted: May 13, 2012 at 9:07 Quote
He was probably told the possible risks so no he probably wouldn't get anything. Then again it is North America so claim for everything!

I was aware of the risks and made a well informed choice to have the surgery, so no I would not consider trying to get compensation from the surgeon of hospital. And please do not lump all of North America together in one big liability lawsuit group. The good old U S of A is the birthplace of liability law and it is there that it thrives, much more so than in Canada.

Thanks for the healing vibes brother. I think we talked about this when I first injured myself. Sucks that you have re-injured your leg as well. No doubt about the supplements either. It has become painfully obvious to me that we do not heal as well or as fast as we did when we were younger, and I need all of the help I can get from supplements. I think you were the one who suggested Traumeel to me, which has done WONDERS for my soft tissue damage. As far as the bone healing goes I am taking a full regimen of good quality supplements (calcium and magnesium, multi vit, multi mineral as well as Vit C and D). Do you take or suggest anything else?? Thanks again for the kind words and great suggestions and healing vibes to you as well. Let me know how your recovery goes.

I remember talking about traumeel with you now that you mention it... yeah, awesome stuff.
As a 32 year old Diabetic I have to take supplements to heal as the diabetes itself slows the healing process, especially of limbs and extremities that are often cut or bruised from biking. I think I healed fast this last time partly because I think as much as it sucks to fracture our bodys get better at mending themselves, though like you say they often dont heal as well. that takes time.

Daily I take/use.

Liquid calcium and vitamin D - bones
Time release Vitamin C - You need this for any re-construction of tissue
Fish Oils/omega 3 - Good for skin and hair, also good for joints and Eyes
Leutin - Very important for eyes.
Traumeel - aches and pains, swelling

and Dont neglect Diet, Being a diabetic I follow a pretty Rigorous diet that Also aides recovery.
Protein is essential For energy and the re-construction of cells, if you dont have enough protein then you wont heal and you wont have energy, fish and chicken are best.

Also often overlooked is water, if you do absolutelly nothing but lay in the shade and breathe you should be drinking at least 2 liters, if your healing, active, or ill You should be drinking lots more People often mistake thirst for hunger because the body only really has one Signal that it needs something.

My plans are to eventually have my ankle plates removed, maybe in the winter. I;d like the femer nail out also, but I dont know If I Could handle Volenteering the recovery time... I;d prolly go crazy. :s

I ordered a new demo 8 last week and have been out on my aging Demo 9 a few good rips this season although This year my plans are to Go fast but avoid stunts mostly I need a solid 12 months For my fractures to gain the density otherwise I'll Be sitting foot up for many long months again. Part of healing as You get older involves acceptance lol .

Sorry for the novel, I also partake of the herb in place of any and all painkillers That are prescribed. Smile
