I recently destroyed my IH Hollowpoint; so I am rebuilding my Howler for the spring. Here are my specs:

'07 Howler w/ Manitou Swinger Air
'08 Minute Elite Absolute 120mm w/ 20mm thru-axle
Chris King NoThreadset Headset in Blue
SRAM X.7 Rear Derailleur
SRAM X.7 Shifter
Jagwire Ripcord Shifter Cables
Truvativ Hussefelt Crankset
Truvativ Team Howitzer BB
E-13 SRS Chainguide
WTB Laser FR Saddle
Easton Vise Seatpost
Sette 31.8mm Duo 2014 2.5" Riser Bar
Bontrager Earl Stem
Sette Headlock
ODI Ruffian Lock-ons in White
Hayes V8 White Stroker Trails
Limited Edition Alex 22MX Wheelset
Tioga Factory DH 2.3s

I like Manitou and haven't had any problems. I'll keep running it till I do!

So what do y'all think?

My howler's running, currently with the drop off 4's that came on it. I'm thinking of making it more of an all mountain ride. Light xc to light freeride. I'm looking to put a pike on the front, and actually thinking of the hammerschmit cranks and BB...

Seems decent. I almost got the 06 Howler frame last year. Ill need pics to give my full opinion....Wink

Well this is how it will look sort of; I built it last spring then decided I needed front gears. I swapped frames; most of the parts I had were on my Slash when it was stolen this fall.

Tires, seat, seatpost, fork, shock, and bash will be different this coming season, I might not run a chainguide either.

I've done a couple things to it since this pic, as above, I'm adding a hammerschmit and probably a pike on the front....perhaps an air shock if budget allows

I'm using the hammerschmit 'cause I wanted gears as well...it can handle alot for a small bike huh?

How are you going to use the Hammerschmit without the ISCG mounts?

I've ridden alot of what I'd consider mild freeride or aggressive all mountain and it handle beauty...hugs the berms like a dream

damn, never thought...there isn't a bracket that will make it work there?

I thought about the Hammerschmit too! Then when I was looking at the frame I realized that it wouldn't work because of the lack of ISCG Mounts on the frame! I am selling the Howler frame.

I was told they make brackets that easily convert...dont' sell it!!!

I'm probably going to be building a howler
So far the only parts I've actually decided are.
Kona howler - 06
RP23 rear shock
Pike - I hope, if the budget allows me.
Hayes 9 brakes - Cheap and quite good.

I can't decide on,
Cranks
Bars
stem
Wheels
seat- comfy one:P
I also want a nice clicky hubBig GrinPedals- still not sure...

I want em all to be light though:P

Yeah, I'm selling my Howler frame, I just got a 2008 Rocky Mountain Slayer SS350 and started swapping the stuff I want on it from the stock stuff. Check my profile; I have a couple of pics up. I'm just waiting for a few more parts!
