what kind of fork should i run if im going to run pegs?
What kind do you have now? It's easier if it's a solid skinny axle e.g. 7/8ths or 9mm. If you have a 20mm thru axle, you'll need to come up with a custom setup (all you need is a really long axle or bolt which will go through your wheel inside of the 20mm thru axle. You tighten the pegs so they both pull inwards against the fork. Presto.
The Marzocchi D.Street fork was the only mtb fork I know of that was specifically designed for pegs. It was intended for the Specialized P.Street bike. I have one. It's heavy.
I think the concern with running pegs on a typical suspension fork is that the tubing is not made for the kind of twisting or impacts around the axle area associated with bmx style street riding (50-50 rails, Smith grinds etc). I never ended up riding mtb with pegs though. I have 22"wheel and 24" wheel BMX bikes for that.
If you want pegs on a 26" look for an 05-06 marzo dj fork. They are super easy to mount pegs to, are super strong, super easy to lower and will take the impact from pegs.
