when there is a foot of snow outside and all I can think about is when will I go back there to shovel my trail so I can go mill some fallen trees into usable lumber or decide if I want to go scope out a new trail I have in mind. Out here we have chinook winds that are very strong warm winds that turn the temperature 15-20 degrees warmer in an hour and when they stay for a few days, the snow melts and we can be back to dirt very quick......
The problem with building in Scotland is that our trail is up in the hills and a foot of snow in the Ochil hills usually takes 2 to 3 wks to thaw or even melt to a stage where ye can work on ur trail ! That and instead of a half an hour stroll up the fire rd it takes f...in hrs just to even get to ma track !! l Tis a real pisser !! Lol
When ye meticulously clear the snow from all entrances and exits to yer track cos the tracks rideable but the fire rd's are lethal ..... and then ye consider gritting parts o' yer track cos u want sum airtime in the snow but it's just that wee bit too iffy for landings from height !! lol
when it shits snow so you: -you build rails for skiing. -you shovel your deck and a 6ft tall dropin ramp of snow magically appears in your backyard in perfect position to start hosting rail jams.
