Would anyone here ride the canyon on an AM bike? And is it steep?

Rode it on a HT with 4in dirt jumpers in 06! My mate was bitiching about having to ride a HT all the time so we swaped bikes for a while. Pleny with a hardtail = Arm and calf pump!

I tried to ride the trail that runs right under the Pleney lift on my 5" trail bike last year,it didn't go well, OTB right under the lift, and now as I have a bike with a bit more travel I was hoping to try some of the harder tracks.

depends on the weather man...when it rains in the alps it pours....seen lots of people with wets but i just ran minions all week and was grand....your better off buying your gear and stuff before you go as it can be expensive over there.....

ive got a minnion/high roller set up and a set of kenda nevegals and tbh prefer the kendas as the minnion seems to get clogged in any kinda mud. high rollers ok. ive also been looking at getting a set of wet screams/swamp things incase to.

get some part used from ebay for around £30 from what ive seen.

nevegals are shite. you'll be absolutely fine for grip with minions although the back one will be pretty worn by the end of the week, not a problem though. just make sure they're dual ply

Mud tyres can make a hell of a difference in the wet and make your day much more enjoyable.

Contrary to popular belief (and a very common misconception), not everything is expensive over here. Our Maxxis tyres retail at 45€, which if you check, is cheaper than chain reaction, and cheaper than the RRP. Bear in mind also that if you bring everything over from the UK you are not contributing to the economy of the holiday resorts. If the shops can't afford to stay open, where will you get your bike fixed when it breaks?

I bought minions the other day for R250 a tyre, thats 23 euro...and thats in South Africa where everything is pretty expensive because none of the distributors ever bring anything in for downhill. So 45 euro sounds pretty steep to me
