I'm assuming he took the mesh off after the he was done painting? And how did he get t\where he taped the mesh on? Did he just move the mesh around the tube?

id say just cable tie it on at each end you could not move it in spraying or it would be in a diffrent place and the cross patenr would not work
or anothr way you could is weave a bit of string through the hole son the back and then tighten it up like a set of laces thoguh not sure how successfull this would be
