I never understand people who say that saints have no modulation. Two pots, xtr/xt, bite harder. Also simply use a lighter pull?

It's the saint master cylinder design, it doesn't ramp up linearly unlike the hope.

Shimanos servowave at its best.

Modulation can come down to many other things too, like brake pad, rotor choice, etc. even with my supposed "shitty" Ashima rotors which have almost no braking surface, my brakes will stop on a dime will still increasing beginning perceived modulation. Also you can make custom spacer blocks to space out the piston engagement further apart on 4 pot brakes to increase modulation + free stroke (theres a mod for zee levers).

The zee's are really awesome brakes! got a set on my ladies operator she loves them and noted they are a vast improvment over the old Code R's previously on her bike.

Zee are almost identical to Saint M820's per comparison theyre about the best/closest ratio of "slightly younger bro to older bro" withinthe zee/saint line imo. There are mods tonif you want freestroke as well, even though no one uses it lol. It's powerful brake, same raw power. Modulation and heat capactity "tech" slightly reduced in terms of lever, but it's literally nothing of a difference.

So used my Code R's for a park day on Monday, another coming up on Sunday. Love those babies! So nice for power and modulation. Only a little bit less power now, but we were biking for around 6 actual hours at the park.

Got Code R's on my Freeride/do it all bike, They dont lack in power, but modulation isnt so good, if find they are very grabby, i'm sure with time I could adapt but i dont really think I want to, also lever feel is a bit nasty, cant put my finger on just what it is about the lever feel, but it dosnt feel right for me.

all in all I think i have just been spoiled by hope over the years, to a point where every other brake i've tryed is somewhat lacking, granted i havnt tryed Zee/Saint brakes yet, although i am very keen to give them a good go.

They sure do grab, but I am use to it, and don't find it too much of an issue. If needed, i can make them less grabby. Have my rear brake less grabby than the front at the moment.

avid has pretty much the best modulation on the market.

I'm super happy with my X7 trails.
