From the sounds of things they want to get them running a bit better before the masses descend.

Digger is meant to be arriving this week so I can't imagine it will be long after that.

When are the school holidays anyway?

Hey guys, me and a friend are new to DH biking, been going to pitfichie a lot, and to the lecht and fochabers once so far.
Was reading through this thread, just wondering what dirt jumps are still in one piece around aberdeen?
The ones at hazelhead looked pretty fun, where exactly are they?
We would also be up for helping build new stuff/improving whats already been done, any info much appreciated Smile

Me and my friend went up to Scolty hill on sunday, props to anyone who has put work into the trails up there!
The big drop at the top was a bit much for us noobs but we had a good day either way, maybe next time Razz
Is there still anything decent to ride at Blacktop? If so it would be cool as we live very close to there, could someone provide some directions or is it a bit of a secret? if so any chance of a PM from some aberdeen folk in the know? Cheers!

I was at Scolty a few weeks back for the first time. Didn't know what to expect and was barrelling down the trail and suddenly came up on the drop- nearly shat myself!

Needless to say I bottled it and went round Redface

I really need to check out Scolty. Anyone got any pics of the drop? Sound awesome!

As for Blacktop... no real change since last summer, although it has been a few weeks since I was last there Smile

I think I found it on YouTube. Natural rock drop type thing? Looks fun Smile

Anyone ever had any success getting their bike on the Banchory bus and back again?

That drop really isn't very fun....it is essentially to flat/incredibly poorly build landing. Do it once to say you have done it but then just leave it!

Haha, cool. I'll keep that in mind if / when I go to Scotly. Anything under head / shoulder height I should be fine landing to flat Wink

its about head height and yeah it doesn't look like the nicest landing, hence we pussied out. As you say, it would still be nice to do it once!

Apart from Scolty and Pitfichie where else do you Aberdeen guys ride regularly?

Kirkhills alright if you have nowhere else to go. Moray monsters good up near fochabers. bennachie is decent, very fast and easy to ride Smile

I've been tempted by Bennachie for a while now, really want to try the stone staircase. It's just the walkers and ramblers that put me off. A couple of mates shot a BMX vid up there a few years back:

PINKBIKE Y U NO EMBED VIMEO?

Used to go to Kirkhill a lot when i had an XC bike, they are doing some serious logging in there at the moment and most of the trails are in a bad state. Plus we still feel pretty bitter that our 1 awesome jump was destroyed so havent been back haha.

Moray monsters? Is that different to the main bit at fochabers with the little north shore section at the top?

Moray monsters is the few trails in the fochabers area. Theres more than just the north shore. I havent been myself but ive been told its very good.

Bennachie is a must, So open and fast!
