What do your parents/friends not understand about bikes?

recently created this thread and it shot off.

a lot are being repeated however.
keep it some what original and DON'T turn this thread into a whining fest.

for mine it's:

1) not understanding that a downhill bike is a downhill bike.

2) not understand that when a part is broken, that yes, you do need to poor excessive amounts of money into replacing it.

3) how much fun DH, DJ and any other form of biking really is.
it's super frustrating when you're constantly trying to get better.

yeah my parents are always like "i bet we could buy you the most expensive bike in the world and you would still try to mess around and change things on it" and i am just like yeah of course i would.

I've looked for a bike that I would be happy with ALL of the components.
I can't find one for the life of me.
