Hi guys,

Any of you running a Dhx5 Air on your bikes?

I've heard they work well with some bikes, and they're terrible for others.

Quick review?

Thanks!

I've been running a DHX Air on my voltage for a couple years now and over all it is a very decent shock. It really is a love or hate relationship as I've heard from many people. It really depends on the type of riding you are doing... for smoother jump oriented trails the dhx air is awesome and handles those well. The pro pedal (as the name implies) will also help you a bit if you do a lot of climbing or have to pedal to a trail. Where I find the shock really struggles is on trails that are more DH oriented. I've tried a lot of different set ups, but I can't seem to stop the back end of the bike from jumping around when the terrain gets rough (this is also due to the short wheel base of the voltage). If you are doing a lot of DH type trails I would say the newer offering from Rock Shox, Cane Creek, X-Fusion etc. as they have improved dampening and can better mimic a coil shock.

gotta agree with rolo, I love mine to death! Since I'm pretty light, and there aren't many coils that fit my weight with the low leverage ratio, the air feels much better cuz it has the perfect spring rate for me. I haven't encountered essentially any heating change (happened once on a super sunny hot day, shuttling all day dh on long rough trails). I bet that the vivid air, ccdb air or x-fusion air would be a better option, but I am pretty darn satisfied with my dhx air as it is. Personally, the air doesn't hamper the dh abilities too much, and i appreciate the large weight savings much more. 2 cents

Thanks Straner and semaj.

I'm not expecting an all-mtn experience by any means, but will be looking to pedal up fromme and squam quite a bit. I don't want to sacrifice any downhill performance, but do want to be able to pedal up. (I know, those two things shouldn't be in the same sentence!) Otherwise its no better than my Glory.

Hoping to take one for a cruise soon.

Like it.

Went to Aston Hill to test my new tyres and they seem to have done the trick, so much easier to pedal, just as much grip and they squeel when you brake hard.

Now to lose some more weight, anyone want o swap a Vivid Air for a RC4 and Ti Spring?

Here! Here! I added the scott decal on both sides of the bottom tube after my morning ride. Looks a bit better now...I think. Big Grin

Are those re-painted frames or sticker removed? If so tell me how to do it, hate mines on my bike. Thanks

http://www.ebay.de/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150796628895&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ: DE:1123

I bought these. I asked if I could get some black and some white and that wasn't a problem. Quality is good! I payed €9,5 + €1 shipping to holland. On this ebay-advert it says 14 piece. I received around 24 pieces.
