Anyway... went for a nice shred yesterday on some local trails. Nothing too tech but pretty fun. The trails here are filled with "doll heads" which bounce the bike around a lot. I am having a hell of a time setting up the suspension on my Enduro. For climbing and xc type riding its fine. But for the AM stuff with more aggressive DH I can figure it out. I got the feeling yesterday that the shock was clunking when rebounding to full extension. I adjusted the rebound but I still couldn't figure it out. I am super aggressive on the DH side of things so maybe I am just working the bike too hard. Any suggestions? my rear shock is Specialized AFR, 150mm travel...with rebound and pro pedal.

I had one of those Enduros.

The clunk you are experiencing is potentially the Spike Valve in that AFR shock. When the oil inside the shocks goes a little funky the Spike Valve goes a little funky, and I have seen a couple that kinda feel like they're cavitating in the top of the travel and hit a dead spot in the damping. If you ever need a rebuild from Specialized on the shock they can de-tune that Spike Valve at your request as well as set the damper right.

Second potential reason for the clunk is that there is a loose bushing somewhere (i.e. a shock eyelet). You can get needle bearing replacementsto ensure it's the last time you have to do that repair.

Door number three is rebound too fast.

Friday night, eh? Sipping on a bottle of the Moose-piss, writing a paper on recidivism rates of criminals suffering from mental health issues. Part of my brain is working on the paper, another part is enjoying the beer, something is liking the Johnny Cash, and the big lobe is thinking about my sunday ride that couldn't be further away. Going to pedal up Pneuma at Moose Mountain and take a rip down shaft (insert homoerotic joke here). If anyone has an idea of what Shaft is like as a trail, lemme know! Hopefully things will dry out come Sunday...

enjoy your evening!

Nice vid! Nice riding too! It looks like SHAFT is accessed on the right(west) side of the road?? WTF was on the right side of the trail at 3:14? Mailbox??? The last half of the video, was that all SHAFT or was it JG?

Thanks again.
