no, a gusset is an extra piece welded to the frame to add strength, sometimes they are inside too

Ok its because my mate is looking at a new frame. Its says it has gussetts on the tube and they dont have any forks to fit

he means the size of the headtube from what your on about reducer headsets mean it can fit any fork

random photo i found in the buy and sell. The large triangular pieces of metal welded onto either side of the headtube junction are gussets. What I think they mean is that if the frame has gussets on the bottom of the bottom tube to strengthen the join between it and the headtube, they might interfere with certain forks.

Can anyone recommend me with some good dh brakes?

Ideally I'm looking:
Shimano saint (new style)
Hope moto V2
Formula the ones (Or other models)
Avid carbons etc.

I'm would really love to hear some opinions on what brakes you would recommend.
I'm kind of confused on what brakes to get atm. Confused

I need a new set of dh tires, I'm currently running minions. Anybody got any suggestions? Has anyone ridden muddy marys?

I have the ones and love them, you really can't go wrong with them. The new ROs are supposed to be even better, so I'd get those if money is no object. Formula in general doesn't make anything I wouldn't enjoy using, even the RXs which are their lowest end model are still excellent.

No reason to get anything but Shimano.

I run Muddy Marys and came off of Minions. They are every bit as predictable as Minions. Slower in the dry. Better in the wet. Easily run tubeless. 2.35 is as big as maxxis 2.5. The only downside is that they're more expensive.

how high is the normal steer tube height for a dh/am rig?

bought a giant reign used and it has like an inch and a half of steertube under the stem, bought flatbars and a 50mm stem. just wondering if there is a rule of thumb or someway to figure out whats the best height?

should I just put the spacers on top of the stem and see how it feels, then decide if I want to cut it.

it feels fine just seems like it's really long...

ceramic bearings are for high heat applications. I know they're expensive and more then likely not worth using on your mtb
