no good ones... just export as raw avi. then compress in other program i use sorenson squeeze..so hope it helps
Ah right, that's kind of what I've been doing. I've been exporting it and then using Widows Movie Maker (I know, lol) to save it in a lower file size. Is the sorenson squeeze worth checking out?
Are you filming and exporting in HD or SD? PAL or NTSC? For the web, for Blu-Ray, DVD, projection?
If you want lower file sizes, just choose a lower quality and reduce the bitrate. The worst possible way to do it is reopen and recompress it, especially with Squeeze. And what specifically do the files have to be so small?
I'm filming in SD/PAL. It's for the web, like I said in my first post, for PinkBike.
What do you export it as though, Avi? What Codecs (if any) do you use?
I shoot in HD, so for me it's slightly different. I use the MPEG2 codec which is great, but other good codecs include MPEG4 and H.264.
Yeah, I've just seen your setup, it looks amazing, man! I've heard the H.264 isn't bad, I guess I'll have to give it a go. Is it really just a matter of trial and error?

Thanks!
Part of it is trial and error. There are some codecs that are by design better than others for different things (AVI is very bad for quality, but good for compression, for example) though. Try experimenting with the formats I mentioned above - they work great in almost any application and are pretty much industry standard (for example, Blu-Ray is H.264, DVDs are MPEG2, and iPod movies are MPEG4). Once you've found the codec you want you just need to expirement with the quality settings (use presets to start with before doing it manually as often this can go wrong and you have to re-render if you don't know what you're doing) to find the balance you want between quality and size. I generally have a full quality master with all the settings on full in H.264, then a very slightly lower quality version for the web in MPEG2. File sizes are not a problem for me, and when I spend my time (and money) having everything look good in HD, I want the audience to see it with that kind of quality too (although the web isn't the best medium).

First of all, I work in Vegas and After FX, so this might be a little different.
I used to export PAL/DV vids at 640x360 resolution (16:9). As for output format, you could try QuickTime (Jpeg codec - takes less space, but quality remains alright). That's the output I use when exporting in After Effects.
I do export my 720p HD vids at 1280x720, Sony AVC (.mp4). But those are the best setting for Vimeo. They do work fine on here as well.
Render as progressive, 25fps and the higher the bitrate, the better it looks (it also takes more hard drive space though). Sound should be at least 128kbps.
