Presenting the number one, 2014's king of the bicycle World, loose as a goose, faster than a canal houseboat and not least, Pinkbike's own 'male gravity racer of the year'... we give you: Josh Bryceland. Storming the box at Leogang and Windham the Mancunian madman cut down the competition one by one and almost burned down Scandinavia on a party night that never happened. Instead he went to hospital and spent the off-season a broken man... Only physically of course. The good news is the Ratboy is back and potentially better than ever.
PB: 1: Where and how have you been spending your off-season? | Mostly in rehab at home in Manchester, took a lot of work getting the foot right for this coming season. - Josh |
PB: 2. What was the highlight of your 2014 season and why was it so significant to you? | There were so many good times last year but the highlight has gotta be winning Windham. It was my first solid victory! - Josh |
PB: 3. Was there a moment or period you considered to be your season ‘low’ and for what reason? | Flatlanding the last jump at the last race... really took the shine off a great year for a couple of days there... sat in a Norweigan hospital wondering what lay ahead! - Josh |
PB: 4. Are there changes you are looking to make to your approach mentally or physically for 2015? | No, I've prepared the same as ever and feeling awesome. - Josh |
PB: 5. How have you split your time between ‘on’ and ‘off’ the big bike training? | Well I wasn't able to touch any bike till January and didn't ride my DH bike till mid Feb so a late start for me, but I feel I'll be back to where I need to be by Lourdes - Josh |
PB: 6. When inspiration has run low lately, to whom or what have you turned to kick your motivation levels up a gear? | Motivation isn't something I struggle with, even with the cold British weather. Once you are out there getting stuck in, life is good. - Josh |
PB: 7. What bit of kit are you looking forward to using most at the races? | The v10 equipped with Fox suspension is one badass weapon - Josh |
PB: 8. Which rider do you see as the biggest threat to the 2015 title? | I try not to get too caught up in what the others are doing, but I'm sure this season will bring some great racing. - Josh |
PB: 9. Which race or single moment of the coming season are you most excited for? | ALL OF IT! - Josh |
PB:10. Complete the sentence: ‘I won’t be racing a single World Cup without....' | ...my undies on. - Josh |

Hell, Gwin probably would have won overall if he hadn't done Leogang without a rear tire. Rat being out of training for months is plenty to put Gwin even further ahead.
Bryceland's a trip. Good luck this year!
