With a former World Champion, a U.S. Olympian and multiple national champions in every off-road discipline—from World Cup downhill to enduro and XC events—the Giant Factory Off-Road Team is looking toward one of its most exciting seasons yet in 2013.

Returning to lead the DH squad next season is 2011 World Champion Danny Hart. The 21-year-old Brit is looking forward to picking up where he left off after an injury cut his 2012 season short last summer. Hart scored three podium finishes and was fourth overall in the 2012 World Cup when a separated shoulder forced him to miss the final two World Cups and the World Championships.
Giant

“I was disappointed to miss some races last year, but that’s giving me more motivation this winter,” Hart said. “I can’t wait till that World Cup opener on my home turf in the U.K. I’ll be fired up and ready to go.”

Giant

Joining Hart on the DH roster is returning Giant rider Andrew Neethling of South Africa. Neethling rode consistently well in 2012 with four top-10 finishes and a 12th-place overall.
Giant

New to the DH squad this year is 22-year-old Marcelo Gutierrez Villegas, a four-time elite national champion in Colombia who finished 10th at the 2012 DH World Championships in Austria.
Giant

On the enduro/XC side, longtime Giant rider Adam Craig is making the jump from the Rabobank-Giant team (now the Giant Pro XC Team), which focuses on World Cup XC racing, to the Giant Factory Off-Road Team. Craig, who won the 2012 U.S. Super D title on his Trance X 29er, is looking forward to a greater focus on enduro racing in 2013.

“I have a pretty sweet schedule lined up, pretty much hitting all the most interesting races out there,” Craig said. “Enduros, XC, all the types of events that most riders are stoked about these days.”
Giant

Craig will be joined by fellow Oregon resident Carl Decker, the three-time defending champion of the Downieville All-Mountain World Championship, as well as Kelli Emmett, the current U.S. women’s Super D national champion. And Australian Josh Carlson, a breakout talent on the enduro-racing scene last year, rounds out the enduro/XC arm of the 2013 team.
Giant

“This is a group of riders that’s fun to watch,” said Giant Global Marketing Director An Le. “They’re champion racers, but they’re also just amazing mountain bikers period. Our XC racers are ripping downhillers, and our downhillers train with power meters. Their versatility and style reflects the progression of mountain biking, as well as the bikes and gear we develop for the everyday rider.”

Once again, the team has a variety of Giant bikes in its arsenal, covering every type of course and all types of terrain—from lightweight composite hardtails to full-suspension XC, enduro and DH bikes.
Giant

For World Cup downhill and gravity events, riders will compete with the Giant Glory and Reign X. Enduro and cross-country riders will start the season on Anthem X Advanced 29er and Trance X 29er bikes, as well as XtC Advanced SL 29er hardtails. And as always, Factory Team riders will be involved in the development of new bikes and technologies, including prototype racing machines, throughout the season.

All Factory Team bikes will be “Powered by SRAM” featuring the latest cutting edge components including SRAM drivetrains, Truvativ componentry, Avid brakes and RockShox suspension. Other sponsors include DT Swiss wheelsets and Schwalbe tires. Fox Head will supply apparel for gravity and enduro events, and DNA Cycling will supply XC race kits.

  • - 1
I agree, I never said he couldn't whup most anyone's ass on a bike... But by your logic you couldn't therefore say that Gonzo the Great looked like a freak just because he was the best at stunts and feats of daring on the Muppet show. Gonzo was a freak but a cool and talented freak!!!!
  • + 4
Yeah I agree mate probably leave u all for dust !! So less of the insults !! Respect a true champion Wink
  • + 1
Danny ftw! .. "i am a quite good peddler" thats what he said,, and thats what i wanna see

Everyone looks good with a full face and some goggles on.

Danny is an amazing ridder, but why does he always look so stupid in pictures?!?
  • + 8
when god filled out his character sheet, he put more points on skills like "fast", "insane", "stoke" and "steeze" than on "looking good" and "being smart" Wink

I have always found his accent more disconcerting... This may sound harsh, but I'm not really trying to be mean.

You could be a rocket scientist but if you have that accent my mind would pre-judge and just automatically leap to the conclusion of: buck toothed yokel who looks after the sheep 'up on t' farm'.
  • + 10
Just put the fullface and goggles on him and he'll look just fine.
  • + 20
Stop hating hobbits you racist basterds!

Happy that Craig picked up a spot with the factory team with the whole Rabobank situation going on. He's an amazing all around racer and definitely a guy i'd like to have a beer with.
  • - 1
whats going on with rabobank? cant find anything on google
  • + 3
 Then you haven't tried hard;-)
In short: Rabobank pulled out of their sponsorship due to the fact they are fed up with all the doping issues in cycling.
  • + 1
To be exact: for the offroadies that means Rabobank still pays but will no longer appear with their name. Team Giant something it will be.
  • + 0
ahh I knew about the road thing but didn't think it applied to off road... still its not like they didn't know about the doping already in cycling, do you think they'll still sponsor amateur races?
  • + 4
A bank pulled out from something due to "moral issues"? good one - the world end is close indeed.

Barend: I'm terrible with financial stuff, I find more sense in Scientology than in a guy on Business News. Explain that sponsoring thing to me: you give someone money and you resign from the main objective of such investment, that is "publicity value", like appearing on their shirts, vans, podcasts etc. New era of marketing?

Rabobank - a bank that cares, check out our latest mortgage offer called: "Compassion"
  • + 1
Too bad they didn't switch from sponsoring road to sponsoring MTB because your athletes would be less likely to get busted for doping. The longer the race goes, the more helpful the current crop of doping methods are. Xc is over in an hour and a half, and when it comes to the gravity events, cojones > dope.
  • + 1
Please stop this nonsense on doping which is one big farse. If you ever get to closely know a pro roadie, ask him what kind of fully-legal stuff he eats and takes on trainings, then what fully legit crap he carries in back pockets on the race. I know a guy that raced Giro this year, soon in my family, he does not take a single illegal dope... he does lots of legal chemicals on the other hand!

  • + 1
Indeed, but it makes me wonder... what is going to happen to the CG Racing Brigade?
[Reply]
  • + 4
Pretty sure Danny isn't unfit he's been riding moto races recently and doing pretty well from what I've heard. You can't podium moto races from being sat on your arse eating pies !
[Reply]
  • + 5
This is turning to be a Danny Hart's "looks" haters club...
Hmmm... How can you be more constructive?...
[Reply]
  • + 6
Carl Decker ---> offering free Moustache rides for the lucky ladies.

love Danny Hart, think he has such awesome style on a bike... BUT, God Dam, stay away from the pie's and FFS shave that shit off your face.

  • + 3
 congrats to Marcelo gutierres
[Reply]
  • + 1
shoulder injury + sitting on your arse x eating all the pies - no time on your bike = a pretty chunky `Danny Hart` lookin monkey. More gravey old boy?
[Reply]
  • + 2
Best of Luck for 2013 Danny!
[Reply]
  • + 1
I'm glad Danny is putting a bit of beef on, as long as it's not too much it will only make him a better rider!
[Reply]
  • + 0
Just wish Danny would shave and look like a champion , guy kills it and I'm my mind is the only rival out there for Aaron Gwin. He is just young I suppose
  • + 3
Not sure Minnaar and Atherton would agree with you on that, plus many other up and comers.

  • + 2

[Reply]
  • + 2
Fat is more like it... Friggin Danny Hart ate too many Hob-Nobs
  • + 3
 Mmmm... Hob Nobs.
[Reply]
  • - 1
Because in my opinion he is representing giant and it is not a good image when you look over weight and out of shape ,it's nothing about his looks ,he's an awesome rider hands down I can't argue with that
  • + 7
"not a good image when you look over weight and out of shape"

Seriously? He kills it on a bike. I think it's a great image. The dude flat out rips. He can destroy 99.9999999% of all riders on the track. It sounds like if you owned a pro team you would only sponsor the sexiest men you could find.
[Reply]
  • + 2
 Hell yeah carlso! absolute legend
