this should be renamed the "North-Eastern Cup"
  • 10 1
Being in school, I don't have the time to travel out of state for any races. Too bad all of the venues are at least 5 hours away....
  • 3 1
 agreed

Very true. I feel a little blessed living where I live
  • 1 0
Yep . . . Got the North West Cup out here!
  • 6 1
Agreed "North-Eastern States Cup" is a better description. Much of New England and chunks of New York is a large region. This is gonna be a killer series. But it wouldn't stop me from planning a week long road trip to Brevard, NC for some of that action. The East Coast rules for relentless roots and rocks!

I love that the Atlantic has plattekill 3 times, couldn't have mixed it up and maybe threw another mountain creek in instead....somewhere appealing to go
  • 4 2
@Smitty2661 it's not just about where we want to have races; there are a whole metric crap-ton of factors that go into scheduling a race series. If you build your own race series, maybe you can have extra stops at your favorite/local mountain.

As for somewhere "appealing to go" as opposed to Plattekill......please. IF one doesn't like racing at Platty, they probably need to review Rule #5.

Plattekill is the shit! quit your whining keyboard warriors
  • 4 2
3 times is a little overkill, and appealing apparently I'm not the only one since the GRT doesn't want to go back... but I'm the keyboard warrior, so who am i to say

Loved the time I got to go to Platty in 2002. We rode a brand new fresh cut course that went straight the frick down the mountain. That crazy rock surfing shale is such an experience. One of the most raw and well laid out mountains ever.

Everyone needs to get to experience it the way Herndon and I did. Slept under the truck most of Thursday morning. Helped Van Dine dig the mountaincross (bullcrap digging...it's rock sculpting), walked the course without a tire having gone down it trying to figure out why they taped it into a vertical ditch and then across a huge log with no way to hop it.

Suddenly after a few runs, all that shale came sliding down the mountain, filled in the ditch, piled up against the log...and found myself having to let off the brake sometimes so a rock would stop being a miniature snowboard under a wheel.

Best thing that can happen is all the snobs of the world be forced to experience the awesome people, atmosphere and terrain there. No 5 star lodging there, no fancy staging...just pure downhill bliss.

Esc yet no virignia or Tennessee or n.c., great. I'd have to drive at minimum 10 hours for any race. Rename it to the northeastern states cup already!

If you are an enduro rider there are some events in those areas www.thirdcoastenduroseries.com.. or you should just move up here :-P
  • 2 1
I love atlanta, and I love the southeast dh scene, so I probably wont move and sadly I dont race enduro!

There's an Enduro series in the SE, 3rdcoastproductions.com/enduroseries I did a few of these last year and they're great fun.
  • 1 1
@JKSR yeah man, I know about all the races for the southeast, just saying why call it the esc if its only the north east!
  • 2 1
I too agree that this should be called North East. This isn't the first time this sentiment has been echoed around here.

The WV Enduro Series has awesome local, technical, backcountry racing at venues that aren't bike parks. Just an FYI.

I did some ESC enduros last year, and they were fun, but a lot of them are a lot closer to a 5 stage DH race than an actual Enduro. Just sayin.

ESC, you guys are awesome! We are so pumped to have the season opener in Rhode Island for an Enduro stop. Diamond Hill we be in prime condition come April with a few new surprises for the race!

Congrats Elsinore! The ML Bike Park is on the map! Who would ever think little RI has a hill, and a fun one at that.
  • 1 0
 So this means your racing??!!
  • 5 0
I can't wait for this season to start. Little bummed the New England circuit has more races than the Atlantic but from the sounds of it trying to schedule all these races was tough this year.
  • 5 2
Hang on Jay, believe it or not a race or two still may be added.
  • 2 0
Oh gotcha. I was just planning on adding a few New England races to my schedule.
  • 8 2
The schedule looks AWESOME!! Nice work ESC. It's great to see your calendar growing.
  • 3 1
All you bitches complaining about whether ESC should be truly considered east coast or northeast, close enough, George puts on some of the best racing events east cost can offer, race them or not thats your choice, quit complaining already!
  • 5 0
Thanks George and ESC for the pic of Ian with Loco!
  • 4 1
Wow, Lots of races! Is George just going to live out of his truck for 4 months?? Thanks ESC.
  • 4 1
Interesting. It seems Thunder Mountain stole Mountain Creeks thunder. Unless those are races yet to be confirmed.
  • 2 0
I feel for the guys here, complaining about the concentrated venues. It would be super to have Snowshoe, WV, Wisp in MD, Beech, NC . There's a few good ones right there.
  • 3 0
Can't wait for the season to start

Buckle up kids' it's going to be one hell on a season!!!

So with 10 enduros how many finishes will be counted towards points? Hopefully we can miss 2 or more.......
  • 2 1
We are still working on all the series details and will post up full details on Pinkbike in a couple weeks.
  • 3 1
I guess snowshoes trails are too long this year?
  • 1 1
Damn, just moved and was looking forward to racing a few with the GF. 2 stops 7 hours away, rest is 12+. Guess not.
  • 2 0
 whoa no Duryea??
  • 2 1
just saw it's part of the GES on May 1, interesting it's not part of ESC too
  • 1 0
Yea,we have the Kinllington Triathalon the same weekend, last year it was the same but we had to split crews. The triathalon requires that we are all there. Hope all the ESC DH racers stiil make it down to the event.
  • 5 4
 Northeast...not East Coast
  • 2 1
