Entries are now being accepted for Avid's Chasing Trail Contest. Here's how it works: Shoot, edit and submit your video of two minutes or less. The theme is simple: Chasing Trail. It doesn't matter if you're a racer or just getting started - tell a story about what pursuit of the perfect mountain bike trail means to you.

What does Chasing Trail mean to you? Submit a video based on this theme, and you could win some amazing prizes including Avid Elixir 9 Trail brakes on a new Giant Trance X with and SRAM set-up.

A panel of world-class riders will choose the finalists. Winners will be announced on July 12. In addition to the prizes listed below, Avid will be giving away a set of Avid Elixir 9 Trail brakes in a random drawing. Good luck!

Winners will be chosen from a select panel of world class riders and Avid, and will be announced Friday, July 12th, 2013.

PRIZES INCLUDE
First place

Is that the only criteria? Seems pretty vague. But I guess that just leaves a lot of room for creativity.

Sucks only USA citizens can compete... Frown , what about the rest of the world ???
  • - 8
Do you really want a Giant Trance, and go to the bike park and watch everyone else riding a Giant, I guess you could always sell it and buy a bike that will stand out in the crowd.
  • + 6
Nah mate....I actually enjoy the fact I now own a Trance after years of more exotic makes....I like the fact that snobbish riders at trail centres don't pay much attention to it. It's a damn nice frame, all I'll ever need for an all-day bike.
  • + 3
No offence, Good for you, alot of bike stores here offer 90% Giants, there web sites are full of them with only a small % of other known brands, Mass Marketing, at the end of the day you ride what you want to ride.

There are laws one has to follow when running a contest, making sure a contest's rules comply with laws from every country would be overly burdensome.

Hell, there contests here in the US that exclude certain states because of their laws relating to giveaways/contests.

I would like to see the videos from other countries too. If you have a video and would like to participate maybe you have a US citizen buddy that would submit it for you.

Remember Flip???? His video was very inspiring, watch it if you haven't. Good luck to everyone!

have to agree i would like to make a video to show how the trails are in my area and the best way would be thruth a contest, but it`s only for americans :c

Shame it's USA only, I was getting excited about having a reason to make and edit a video. I know Avids do have some issues, however if you spend the time to bled them and lubricate the pistons evenly I have 3 sets of perfectly working Avid's. The lower end models can be a nightmare to get the bite point right, and setup consistantly, but then again, you can get a disc brakes for under ¬£50!
  • + 5
Make one anyway, I'll watch it.

Seems daft to advertise a US-only contest on a Canadian website that's read by the world. Marketing backfire!

I'm good enough when you want my money, but not when there's a contest on the table? What are you trying to pull Avid?
[Reply]

the newly renamed: "Merica! Contest" cause we hate Canada...

this really just leaves the winners to be the people who can afford the film equipment. those people im guessing can also afford the bike if they really wanted it. i mean, still worth a try tho.

Why does Pinkbike censor very mildly critical comments?
  • + 6
they do this quite often, everyone notices, not free speech on pinkbike
  • + 6
They're not censoring anything about the Redalp Cascadeur Big Grin
  • + 4
And if they do not, enough bozos around here to downvote. But the truth that Avid hydro brakes are among the worst options out there is the truth. Ask any shop mechanic.
  • + 0
Pinkbike doesn't sensor anything, no matter how many times you claim they do. If they did, someone would have been able to provide at least some screen caps with time stamps proving it. Yet despite all the conspiracy theorists, no one has even a shred of proof. If I recall correctly there was a rumor that Fox and Specialized had PAID pinkbike to delete comments (which actually weren't deleted, they were below threshold after being downvoted). And a ton of people believed this, and said the comments had been deleted, even after it was shown and explained where they were people claimed they were deleted and then "put back" after the outrage. Yet still no proof.

Cuh-razy.
