The town of Whistler breeds kids strong and talented. It’s in the water and it’s on the trails. Everything a young ripper needs is at their fingertips in that zone. This area is one of the many reasons Brandon Semenuk is the caliber of rider he is. The combination of his personality along with the support and terrain Whistler provides, thoroughly shaped him into the unstoppable mutant he is today.
Brandon started out like most; he was that 11 year old skinny kid that rolled up, stared you down and brought their “A” game, whether it was XC, Dirt jump or DH. Brandon quickly found his stride and became a common sight at competitions and general adventure in the corridor. Brandon got bit by the bug bad around high school. So much so that he and his family decided he should be home schooled for his last two years of so he could focus on perfection.
This dedication has paid off handsomely. SRAM and Semenuk’s local shop, Evolution partnered with him at the age of 15 and never looked back. This edit is a mission statement. A declaration. A visual representation of the lethal cocktail Brandon brings to any battle and what he demands from the products he rides. Brandon’s brute strength, style, and diverse skill match seamlessly with X0.
Brandon Semenuk is Relentless. Brandon Semenuk is X0
Brandon’s quiver of bikes must to be set up a very certain way. Small changes make a big difference to the delicate genius.
Brandon and the Coastal Crew have been wandering around the forests of B.C for the past few months in search of the perfect shot. Keep yours eyes peeled for gold from that mine.
Brandon is a new resident of Squamish, B.C where his backyard serves up some lush DH and XC trails to keep him fresh.
Kid’s got an ungodly amount of control and snap.
A different perspective than what you see at minute 3:08. Looks like he’s riding a snowmobile here.
Long and low whips.
Semenuk has to rock a new jersey every few rides because his shoulders are covered with Maxxis Minion stains.
Semenuk does so much with so little.
Styles for miles.
If you want to be competitive these days, you need to be ambidextrous. Three’s both ways round
Haha of course not.. If you told me you were an astronaut I would believe you...But if you need help noticing a 4mm difference on your Rampage bike today's Tech Tuesday might help you out!
Good luck at Rampage.... I'll be rooting for you to come in second to whomever my favorite American is at the time.
Wait, it says "Relentless" in the title, they say it in the video, but he is wearing a Red Bull helmet. Now I do know the actual meaning of relentless, but HEY, it still is also the name of a competitor brand of Red Bull. That is some marketing blunder, if you ask me. WTF were they thinking?
harry, of course you can. depends on what you use it for and how you use it. but stupid copyright was not my point. my point was about marketing and steering clear from unnecessary obstacles. whatever...
relentless, monster and red bull are the big 3 in energy drinks, with rockstar in the shadows. Relentless are very well known over here. They sponsor loads of stuff - the isle of man TT, the Animal Relentless bike tour is quite well known, and drink itself is in all supermarkets, corner shops and cafes about.
Also, if I grew up in whistler and left school at 15 I'd be pretty good at biking too. Maybe not AS good, but pretty fockin' good.
I was talking to Shandro about him last week. and he was saying that every time he went to the Dirt Jumps in whistler, Brandon would be there, just riding, doing tricks and just practicing. this was when he was 14 years old. Brandon is no different to anyone else on this web site, he just knew he wanted it from a younger age. and then never stopped working at it until he got there.
man watching these videos booosts your ego soooo much... you start doing shit you never thought you could do.... then i went for the biggest jump at my 4x track and broke my collar bone.... but i was still pumped cause it was just after Semenuk broke hes at CrankWorx.... man we have soo much in common :S
kev, i have the same shoes as him! now both of us have something in common with him. and tom666, in america, i have never ever seen a can of relentless or heard of reletless! so its just the british people who are noticing it and over here rockstar, redbull, and monster are the really popular energy drinks.
Brandon is a king and It makes me push myself to be like him. I may be at the same level as him but he blows me away every time I watch him ride and ride with him. I know Brandon decently well, he is a rad person and I thank him for bring his talent to this sport and making it what it is today! Cya at Crankworx B.
I saw the part where you said "I may be at the same level as him" and i was thinking who is this delusional clown? And then i saw all the positive props and i was just thinkin "WTF???!!!". Then i saw your username...it was a lightbulb moment!
I'm sure i dont need to tell you this but some people are dicks. Wankgrant is a prime example of this. He wouldnt say boo to your face but he's a big man behind a keyboard.
Awesome rider. Keep it lit!!
dude, casey, i was trying to be the least dick possible while speaking my opinion. i could have worded it different but i stand by it.. you could take a W vs b in a dirtjumping/slope contest but if it came down to big mountain he would win. i'm by no means flaming casey and talking all this non-sense about his life or whatever, i'm voicing an opinion of not just my own, but the many people who found casey's comment a little bold. I like casey and respect his drive on and off the bike, hes a funny dude and rad to ride with, but at the end of the day this is the internet where people come on here to voice there honest opinion and i'm respectably doing so.
And you felt the need to say it...why exactly? You wouldnt say it to his face so why say it behind a keyboard? There was no reason for you to give your opinion. This wasnt a discussion or argument about who was better so you should keep your mouth shut.
He is definately one if the greatest slopestyle riders i have ever seen. saw him at Claymore Challenge and he just demolished the course even though it was all sloppy and muddy. Great rider and he definately has a boat load of control.
what is the red full suspension bike he is riding? It looks like a fuel ex but it has a full chain guide...? I was under the impression that you couldn't put that guide on the fuel, so maybe it's a remedy? but it looks to short travel to be a remedy...any help?
Relentless is awesome. As for Brandon, I've had a chance to have a few conversations with him and he is amazing. For the top notch level of riding he performs, with it comes no attitude. Brandon is as down to earth as you can get. Keep up the good work Brandon.
It seems alot of people don't understand the difference between free riding and racing. Racing is about winning, getting down the course in the shortest amount of time. Its a different mindset from just ripping up a trail the funnest way down with style and finesse and not worrying about a clock, sponsors, or the competition.
Why do we not understand the difference between racing and free riding? He looks fast. That's why we would like to see how he does racing. Way to be a jerk.
@rlucky, i know full well the difference between racing downhill and freeriding, i race downhill myself and i know that lets say freeriding is a completely different concept to racing at a wc. it says it in the name, its about bieng free, not even having a set track and just having fun! you dont even need to think of the competition. im not saying he should race dh instead i just think it would be interesting to see how he stacks up as cyrix said.
unbelievable. way beyond the skill that %90 of us riders could only dream of. he is BRUTAL on those trails. soo fast and stylish. mind blowing, and still does anyone know the song ?
Cool branding. All the sponsors and catchy phrases were really awesome. I was inspired by his brands and his red bull and the bike brand.
Oh yea, the riding was good too.
Sure is, those long manuals look like a fast way though some of those sections I love that nose manual with the bike turned out to the right at 3:40 and that line he took at 3;00.
Not to be rude, but if you have the answer and you're going to post why not just post the answer? No cjm, you can't get that specific bike. It's custom and the normal remedy would be pretty different.
We have the honor to live in the same era as the one who will be known as the best mountainbiker that has ever lived. Brandon Semenuk.
The 4 mm thing makes him god.
dont know! its very ironic! and hes also the first person other than me that i have seen with those shoes so him and i have at least one thing in common, we both have good taste in shoes.
Well, he was right. Come on, these guys are bikers, not politicians - riding the product is the best kind of demonstration already. Pointless chatter won't make it look any better.
By the way, did anyone notice the spelling mistake at the beginning? "Relentess"...
All that said - Brandon is still bloody good. Looking forward to more of these...
You're kidding... Right?
