I don't get how just a fwhip won it, Pilgrim's trick is definitely more technical.
  • 15 6
i don't get why contest aren't based more on style, flow and technicality, rather than seeing who can huck a double flip off a trick jump.
  • 1 0
 Impressive.
  • 8 2
if by more technical you mean has more letters and words to describe it, yes.
  • 11 2
get mtb in the x games !!!
  • 4 0
I think the 6 days riding MTB might have swayed it a bit but that shouldn't really come into it
  • 2 0
ya lets see some slope style for the mtb and bring back bmx dirt!!!!!!!!!
  • 1 0
a flipwhip is not that easy tho ;P
  • 37 2
Come to the dark side of the force Kagy and ride a MTB
  • 17 1
He's been riding a mtb a whole 6 days and he wins a contest he should definetly keep on the bigger wheels
  • 4 0
Apparently I missed something, but was this a best trick only contest? Or was it just best trick today and slope is tomorrow?
  • 4 0
No slope event, just a big air best trick event, two lips, 45 and 75 i think
  • 1 0
is he going to ride more mtb contests?
  • 2 0
 Kagy come to mtb !!
  • 1 1
Then I'm surprised with all the big names that a flip-whip won...
  • 2 0
kagy makes more on a bmx so hes probably not goin to stay with mtb
  • 2 1
why would he ride mtb instead of bmx? he gets paid more and has won way more bmx events
  • 3 0
 copy me well ur at
  • 2 0
its not all about money and you can ride both
  • 10 0
The funny thing is that in that interview he said he'd been riding his mountain bike for a total of six days!!
  • 8 1
There's not much difference between jumping a BMX and a MTB, really. If you got him in a big mountain comp. then it'd get interesting... Join us Kagy!
  • 7 1
Jumping on bmx and on mtb are two totally different worlds
  • 4 5
Ah no, its really not... haha.
  • 2 0
there both way fun, thats for sure.
  • 1 0
 You got that right
  • 10 4
Is it just me, or does it seem like mountain bikers dont work hard enough...first Gwin comes in from moto with an insane work ethic and lays it down on the WC scene, then Kagy comes in and beats a bunch of pros with only 6 days on the bike. Tell me if im crazy but im starting to question the effort that alot of pros put into the sport
  • 8 1
its called hes a well rounded rider theres mtb riders who can kill it on a bmx also
  • 2 0
mtn bikings younger than both sports, the scene hasn't had time to reach as high of a level as moto or bmx.
  • 2 0
Yeah, these mountainbikers are all so lazy, if only they could be put through some sort of regulated training regime under your guidance BLIPDH... www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/photo.php?fbid=10150531522596127&set=a.443959221126.233203.335861456126&type=1&theater

I fairness to Kagy and mtb, Chad Kagy has been riding bikes for a long time. A very long time and is a well rounded rider inside the confines of bmx. From his days of killing street contests to a seasoned vert rider, the dude knows how to handle a bike. His skills easily transfer to riding a bigger wheeled bike. Because thats all it really is, and not quite the same feat as Gwin coming in and winning WC. Gwin did that on a work ethic that is not quite the norm for DH, and a healthy dose of raw talent. Give credit where credit is due......and that is to all these guys who ride bikes for a living Wink
  • 2 0
yeah, I was thinking more of Gwins feats but this just post just reminded me of it and i felt like i had to say something relevant.
and @webbe...Im not denying that alot of DH pros put a ton of time and effort into it. Gee is one of the most hard working guys out there. But from what i hear and see he also parties alot (which isnt a bad thing Wink ), and Gwin doesn't, so that might be something that gives Gwin a slight advantage
  • 2 0
Fair enough man, you have a very good point, but I'm expecting/ hoping optimistically that Gee will come back and smash it this year, his off-season appears to be going pretty well. I think all of the top guys have learnt from the likes of Gwin in the same way that everyone got a slap around the face when Sam Hill arrived on the scene a few years back. You never know, even Brendawg might have become a pedaller.
  • 1 0
yeah itd be awesome to see everyone come back at the top of their game
  • 1 0
Didn't think there was much wrong with Brendawg's pedalling before he snapped his ACL, and it must be pretty tough pedalling without one of those! Sounds like it's almost fully healed now, be interesting to see what he can achieve this year.

haha. I saw that kagy would be riding in this, and i remember thinking to myself, "hmmm… he's gonna destroy"
  • 2 0
Yooo Chad Kagy showing these 20" fools what time it is. Having fun on a bike regardless of wheel size. Alot of 20" peeps i know hate on big bikes for diff reasons and stay close minded. Real riders do it on any bike, on snow, concrete, dirt, wood, anyting.
  • 5 1
Haha just finished watching the interview video and Kagy's part, go back to the home page and this is up. Big Grin
  • 3 0
Not too surprised on kagy taking the win! He kills the mega ramp on a 20". It's only going to be easier for HIM on a 26"
Congrats kagy! South bay local! Pow!
  • 1 0
Kagy has amazing bike control!!! I know a lad who started on a bmx, went into trials, and now is a semi pro superbike rider!! Give him a bmx now n he can still pull of flips and shred the local parks! Then jump on his trials n pull huge taps n ups!!! Mental!!! Fair play to him at least knowone slating him, i bet in all the bmx mags they slagging him off!!! Lol

For you who don't know x games is expanding. The wanna make another event they are down to 10 cities and whistler is on the list. I don't know it that would be for a winter x Or summer x. But it would be hard to ingnore the mtb culture in whistler and not add a mtb event
  • 4 0
Wow! 10 days on a mtb and he killed it!!
  • 3 1
...hes HAD the bike for 10 days...hes been RIDING it for 6 days. ohhhh man
  • 4 0
I think Mike should have won, he front flipped a 75 foot gap...
  • 2 0
Hahahah I saw this title and was like, when did katy start riding a mtb......6 days ago huh.
  • 3 1
dirt jumping and slope style are really more bmx than mountain biking anyways.
  • 1 0
How many other riders can do a flip whip?!
Come on Kagy just did a trick that tenth of Mtb riders do... I did it at the good time
  • 1 0
Paul Bass did the same thing in 04. A bmxer starts rididng mtb and wins crankworx. I enjoy riding my mtb but, bmx runs this trick style of riding.
  • 1 0
paul bass showed up to crankworx on a bmx but they wouldnt let him ride so he hoped on a mtb and killed it.
  • 1 0
Both my co-workers called this one! Chad Kagy is bad ass on the BMX, so of course he kills it on a Mountain B
  • 4 3
Just another slap to the face, to show you how lame / easy it is to "pro" mtb rider. Stoked for kagy and mike tho, grats
  • 2 0
Hahaha zinger chad kagy has been riding mega ramp for years, he would obviously do well being on a bigger bike.
  • 2 0
