Is it just me, or does it seem like mountain bikers dont work hard enough...first Gwin comes in from moto with an insane work ethic and lays it down on the WC scene, then Kagy comes in and beats a bunch of pros with only 6 days on the bike. Tell me if im crazy but im starting to question the effort that alot of pros put into the sport
I fairness to Kagy and mtb, Chad Kagy has been riding bikes for a long time. A very long time and is a well rounded rider inside the confines of bmx. From his days of killing street contests to a seasoned vert rider, the dude knows how to handle a bike. His skills easily transfer to riding a bigger wheeled bike. Because thats all it really is, and not quite the same feat as Gwin coming in and winning WC. Gwin did that on a work ethic that is not quite the norm for DH, and a healthy dose of raw talent. Give credit where credit is due......and that is to all these guys who ride bikes for a living
yeah, I was thinking more of Gwins feats but this just post just reminded me of it and i felt like i had to say something relevant. and @webbe...Im not denying that alot of DH pros put a ton of time and effort into it. Gee is one of the most hard working guys out there. But from what i hear and see he also parties alot (which isnt a bad thing ), and Gwin doesn't, so that might be something that gives Gwin a slight advantage
Fair enough man, you have a very good point, but I'm expecting/ hoping optimistically that Gee will come back and smash it this year, his off-season appears to be going pretty well. I think all of the top guys have learnt from the likes of Gwin in the same way that everyone got a slap around the face when Sam Hill arrived on the scene a few years back. You never know, even Brendawg might have become a pedaller.
Didn't think there was much wrong with Brendawg's pedalling before he snapped his ACL, and it must be pretty tough pedalling without one of those! Sounds like it's almost fully healed now, be interesting to see what he can achieve this year.
Yooo Chad Kagy showing these 20" fools what time it is. Having fun on a bike regardless of wheel size. Alot of 20" peeps i know hate on big bikes for diff reasons and stay close minded. Real riders do it on any bike, on snow, concrete, dirt, wood, anyting.
Not too surprised on kagy taking the win! He kills the mega ramp on a 20". It's only going to be easier for HIM on a 26" Congrats kagy! South bay local! Pow!
Kagy has amazing bike control!!! I know a lad who started on a bmx, went into trials, and now is a semi pro superbike rider!! Give him a bmx now n he can still pull of flips and shred the local parks! Then jump on his trials n pull huge taps n ups!!! Mental!!! Fair play to him at least knowone slating him, i bet in all the bmx mags they slagging him off!!! Lol
For you who don't know x games is expanding. The wanna make another event they are down to 10 cities and whistler is on the list. I don't know it that would be for a winter x Or summer x. But it would be hard to ingnore the mtb culture in whistler and not add a mtb event
Kagy is an insanely talented rider so to say that because he won is a testament to how much of a joke slopestyle is would be like saying how big a joke the Leadville 100 is because Lance Armstrong came in and won it.

Come on Kagy just did a trick that tenth of Mtb riders do... I did it at the good time
