Unfortunately the weather hasn't been playing nice on the Swiss/French border. Last night's thunderstorms were pretty heavy, and the rain carried on most of the way through the night... So the course has been closed for most of the days and very little got thrown down because conditions were so shady. So, instead here's a recap of the 2011 event, courtesy of Will Walker.

Strait dropping off the 11m drop at the start.
The course started with this burly 11m drop, that scared more than a few people - they even went to the lengths of providing some toilet paper at the top, just in case... Kyle Strait wasn't scared though - here he is sending it.

Sorge no-hander flip.
Just off the top, this sender into a nice, long landing gave riders a chance to show off their style - here's a few options. First up, Kurt Sorge on a flip no-hander.

Flip nac.
Cam Zink with a flip nac

Superseater.
  Kyle Strait with a superseater.

Effortless style.
Finally, Andrea Lacondeguy, simply with style.

X-up 3 drop.
Brandon Semenuk took one of the lines further out to the right and tricked the hell out of it. Because the line wasn't considered that tough, he found himself lower down the podium than he would have wanted to be.

Strait coming in hot.
After the first section, it's all about charging down the mountain as hard as you dare. Again, Kyle Strait going hard.

X-up on the Red Bull stepdown.
While this jump and stepdown into the finish area are still here this year, unfortunately Amir Kabbani won't be. Here he is with a big, stylish x-up.

Flipping into the finish area.
Cam Zink flipping into the finish area on his way to the win.

The podium
That's where everyone will be looking to be standing come the end of this weekend.

Counting the winnings
  Going big = big money.

A big thanks to Will Walker for the photos. The weather forecasts for tomorrow and Sunday are mixed, so as soon there's a gap in the weather everyone is going to go hard and get points down in case in closes back in again...

I was thinking the exact same thing. This reminds me of the orginal slopestyle contests where they had features like these and people rode with everything from dirt jumpers to dual crown free ride bikes. Nowadays they all ride the same bikes and the big mountain features are gone. Even Rampage went and got slopestylie recently with wood kickers. Long live big mountain free ride!

I think with the huge amount of choices riders at mountain style have it would be awesome if they were scored on three different runs so that they aren't punished for trying out some of the different 'easier' features

ok, so when the heck is this anyway? and will there be a live feed? sorry, ive just been so focused on riding that even when i go on pinkbike nothing ever registered until now. because the live feed from windham was awesome- i was yelling and cheering on stevie smith louder than the soccer world cup last year. so i dont want to miss out on this-specially since cam mc caul might be riding it?
