Solitary Combat

Straight off a win at the Underworld Cup, and a third place finish at Mt.Tremblant's Canada Cup, Matt Hardwick accredits much of his success to the wet roots, rocks, and wooded trails of Vancouver's legendary North Shore. Throughout the winter, Matt put in the hours quietly training, building, and filming to hone his skills in becoming one of Canada's fastest junior racers. Matt knows the shore like the back of his hand, and tries to put a fresh spin on his local playground with every lap.

Keep an eye out for Matt on the Junior downhill circuit this year.

This is my kind of trail, i wish i could ride it like that

Basically looked like a bike park trail in its natural habitat... although the trail looked a little buffed out for my liking, it must be a riot to rip down.

Was up at my local REI talkin shop with the crew while working on my Slayer and this little kid walked by with his mom, checking out my bike and said "wow where did that bike come from?" i said "Canada" then he saw my Lynx DT seat and said "do bears in Canada walk around like that? " (with balls in hand) and I said "after a few beers in mating season they do" . His mom pulled him away pretty quick. oh Chromag.

No but seriously, why don't you guys ride all year? You're missing out on so much Big Grin
  • + 2
I do! Always up for a bit of bad weather cycling haha Big Grin

Awesome! Yeah, no weather can take out the pleasure of riding! And yes, I do go out riding in even -30 degrees, so I know what I'm talking about here B-)

Well I can't say we get thaaat cold over this side! (thank you Gulf Stream) Coldest I can remember was 2010 when it was about -20 degrees Celsius but there are rainstorms-a-plenty pretty much year round so muddy/sketchy riding is never hard to come by Smile

-20 in Scotland?!? Jeez! Would never have guessed. Guess it's pretty far up north after all Smile

Yeah, it's a question of attitude and making the best of what you've got. Never understood people who only ride during the lift season.

Fortunately it's far from a regular occurrence! I'd never seen it that bad prior to, or since that winter. It's more commonly around the low -10's. True true! If we didn't like going out in the elements we wouldn't be on Pinkbike lol, Scotland and Finland can't quite boast Californian summers haha!

Yeah, same with the lack of mountains! Well, keeps you fit at least, the pedaling Smile
