I nearly burned my fingers typing this one up, in celebration Gee and Rach’s outstanding double win at last summer’s UCI World Championships in Val di Sole Italy. Commencal set the gears in motion to do produce something very special indeed...
Collaborating with Animal Commencal co-sponsors Shimano, Fox, DT Swiss, Chris King, Sunline, E13 and Maxxis, Commencal set to work on producing an ‘all-singing, all-dancing’ replica of the Atherton’s World Championship winning Supreme DH complete with illustrious rainbow stripe paintjob. As close to the Atherton’s race winning setup as is feasibly possible, with no cutting of corners, the spec list is enviable to say the least! Landing in March 2009 (in limited numbers), both as the pictured complete bike and a frameset, Commencal are proud to present the Supreme DH World Championship Ltd Edition.’

that is one sweet bike, looks amazing
No it's not.. The contact system is excellent but Trek has got their act together with that custom damped Fox DHX5.. Besides, Gee's bike weights at 42pounds, and the Trek off the shelf weights at 37pounds with room to shed some more pounds off!! and also the Trek is cheaper than this supreme DH..
You're just blowing away your hard earned money to get a nice paint job, but im sure you can get a better bike for less money with better specs.
Just my 2 cents.

what? allenrotstein, i think you are confusing the new session 8 DH and the Session 10. The 8 is light but the 10 isn't. Trek isn't making the 10 anymore either, unfortunately.....it was a great frame but too heavy for racing. I can see where fortbill is coming from except for one major factor, the pivot location. The Session 10 has a much higher pivot location which gives the bike a different wheelpath and therefore responds to the terrain in a different manner.
ahhhh why is everyone obsessed with weight like some kind of neo-nazi cult following that must be adheared to in order to be a super amazing bonafied rider?
Like woaaaah sonny I spent five million pounds on new carbon spokes and saved 50 grams - I'm off the hoook bitches!!!!!!!!!!!!!
whooptedoo Trek session custom damped dhx5 *insert boners here* shock?
My Van R works fine!
Yeah I'll just go eat some cereal and stop talking crap now, is that okay with everyone?
You know, my cereal box is exactly 4g lighter than last years model. It means my cereal taste so much better I can't even explain!
Goodbye citizens.

Ahahahahaha nice rant son! It's funny cause it's true. 7 or 8 years ago nobody cared how heavy their DH bike was it was all about rippin' and having fun. Now everybody is as weight conscious as a spandex wearing Rodie or XC racer....Why?
so ugly. the welds on commencals aren't ever heat treated. the company tries to rip you off becasue they snap every year of riding. and f*gs like cedric gracia ride for them
meh to be honest 2lbs here and there isnt important unless you actally ride in the world cup! I ride a 46lb demo 9 and wouldnt have it any other way! unless i could actually afford to put it on a diet..............
That's a really sick looking bike even though I have not really been an avid fan of Commencal. It's looks ready to pinn the DH.
ive always loved commencal bikes i think their great and by the way raveglia i did catch onto the general vibe i just thought huckoveraduck was being a twat
^^ hahahaha stop trying to un 'owned' yourself. Yes your right, Im a twat. Self admittedy too. The worst kind in my opinion.
maybe racers are getting obsessed with weight like spandex wearing roadies and xc racers becuse the prize purses for races are starting to get as big as the ones from road racing and xc so theres more to play for now so you have to take racing more seriously if your in it to win the cash/gear. and as losing weight off your bike is a fairly easy to give your self an advantage it kind of makes sense
I'm pretty sure you don't turn into an Atherton when you sit on it...you just look like those chumps who buy the Trek Madone in full Armstrong-livery...and dress the part as well when they ride.
This thing is perfect for giving all the fifteen year-olds here boners while they fantasize about wasting the cash so they can impress their peers...

wow teagues how did you get neg propped your absolutely right in your first comment. i hate that damn madone that uses really old layup schedule that actually creates voids in the carbon.
fatbrett clearly knows his roadie talk pity he will nevr know wat a girl with out clothes on looks like
yeah but danielbighit you still ride a bighit sooo....
and fugrus wtf is wrong with roadbikes? we wouldnt even have a sport if it wasn't for them and its a great way to train your legs and build stamina

all i'm gonna say is this. theres a bunch of 15 year old boners out there that'll whoop your ass down any track any time. theres a bunch of 15 year olds out there that would use this bike to its full potential. check the junior ex times to the pros. you'd be surprised.
And wtf is wrong with bighits? Ah thats it they are cheaper then most bikes so they must be bad right?
To be honest you lot.
If you can't see what difference geometry and damping set up makes, then this is not the bike for you anyway. So go jerk off over some ugly freeride rigs...

bighits are great bikes. set it up with a DHX 5, and it can compete with alot of bikes with a much bigger price tag. and they're really light too.
yea but except for the weight part... ive gotten lots of upgraded parts on mine and 40.5 lbs is kinda heavy to me. when i get a boxxer race its goin down to 39.5
shitty alex rims but im going to upgrade to deemaxs, avid codes, thomsen elite post, minions, and other stuff
unreal, too bad ppl that drive ferrari's around are the only ones that will be able to afford this.......
Seeing as the Supreme DH Team retails for $8000, with an 888 and RocoWC, i would guess the ltd edition to be at least $10,000
Finally now do people believe me? I'm glad they finally released this to the public. I love the look of it!
The specs are amazing but I'm not really a fan of the paint job, I prefer the normal Commencals.
And Pedals - FLATS lol...

Well known FACT - World champ stripes make you 5 seconds faster!
Looks lovely, not for the money though!

there is only one thing missing.... the FOX 40 championship ltd edition.
But it´s super super nice like this
I must.... see one of this

I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say the frameset will cost around $4000 CAD and the whole bike around $8000 CAD considering a normal supreme frame costs around $3300 with a normal DHX 5
2009 Supreme DH frame only is $2699CDN
This Atherton world cup frame comes as a kit with many parts (guide, hub, seatpost, etc) and will cost around $3899cdn

Any word on if it's coming with their special frame geo? Cause a special paintjob and nice parts list doesn't make it super special at all.
HOT...
not really.
To tell you the truth I don't see what the big deal is. I have never heard anything good about DT Swiss rims or this 1600 dollar fork on it which is said to need constant maintenance. Just seems like a big gimmick to get me to buy a bike. Just because a couple of professional mountain bikers had success on this rig doesn't mean it's good....

yh, all he mentioned was the maintencance, which is true they need to be maintained to remain the best 8" fork, if not my 888 would beat em

what's up w/ the "stay unclipped" at the bottom of the ad? Gee rides clips a lot of the time. sweet bike though, for sure.
the frame is pretty heavy by itself
i just think people need to get over the idea that bikes need to be sub 40lbs
i just think people need to get over the idea that bikes need to be sub 40lbs
lighter bikes also get bucked around more. right around 41 - 42 pounds is a good weight. its still light enough to be fast but will feel much more stable than a 36-35 pound bike in the rough stuff.

Sweet, comes with the best kept secret in DH racing...The front brake that doesn't work!!! No wonder gee won, he had no brakes.
And i though that this was supposed to come with the RC4 and custom valved 40, not stock stuff.

all of you kids trying to sound like you know what your talking about. and putting this bike down, simply on the fact that you dont like the paint job. or that the "top tube is too high".
go get hit by a bus.
and always clip in.

however, i just took another look at it, and the wc scheme is different from what the "champs" ride. this is just lined squares that are coloured accordingly.
It would be cool if it were JUST for the champ, but the common man should not, under any circumstances, have a bike with the world champion colors. Only the champ runs those colors for a reason, because they earned it.
[Reply]
I know this is a bike that world champions ride, but as far as the look of this bike... it does nothing for me. Perfomance is the only important thing.

question here, which atherton setup will it be? becasue in the last decline there was an article about athertons and leovs setups. and both the athertons run completely different setups. will it very by the frame size? i wonder....

if they wanted it like his rig why didnt they put the fox dhx and 40 world cup stuff on....fox made it for the win they had and it is also limited edition....they shoulda done that and it would be even sweeter then it is now
it comes with the RC4 rear shock set to Gee Atherton's custom settings, it has more range and adjustability than a DHX5
sorry thAT was one of my brothers stupid friends on my comp. idk what the f*ck he was talking about. ha
[Reply]
too much white for my taste but ill be selling my m6 for a commencal this year. why does everyone put the world cup colors on everything
owell im giving it a shot
to:sirbikealot
yes but fox has the 40 with the nickel stanctions and better adjustments they should have thrown that on
yes but fox has the 40 with the nickel stanctions and better adjustments they should have thrown that on
well that bike would cost between $8500 and $10000 do you think my mum and dad would mind me selling the car, tv and the cd player to get it haha lol
that bike is cool but waaayy to much money. I can barely afford a 1300 demo!!, And people r going to be buying that bike. Not right man.
i cant afford that really im just getting money together for my bike im 16 and i get $13.28 a week
this may take a while
this may take a while
Nice to see a Comical without those appalling 888s on the front. They ruined the feel of the test bike I rode.

"Stay Unclipped.".....after an article about an Atherton replica bike, all of whom ride clipped in.....Genius!
[Reply]
commencals all suck they all snap!! surprised the athertons didnt snap em half way down the track!! They went through about 3 in that year! ... each!!
[Reply]
would ya if they weren't brits? they are brits aren't they? what matters is that we're all riding right? they'll have to peel my cold dead fingers from my grips to get me into the oven. or use a pizza oven.
bike and all.
I will have the bike in April and only
)))) because of that I will be much faster. Of course not but you know It is so nice when you buy such beauty and ride it
)
That bike is a waste. The main difference is the paint job. In a year or so it will be standard. It weighs to much. My Session 10 weighs 37.92 pounds.
The people buying that bike will end up sucking because their posers who spend their parents money on the best and cant ride at all.
