who else thinks it should be possible to BUY replica jerseys? those of us that follow WC and World Champs and would rather buy a Steve Smith or Sam Hill (those that prefer freeride could get the limited edition Semenuk) jersey then a Crosby or Ovechkin jersey. i seriously think apparel companies are missing out on this additional revenue. Troy Lee, Fox, One, Royal, listen to the fans!!!
  • - 187
I'm sorry but I think that is kinda stupid....
  • + 31
I don't think it's lame, I think it would help professional biking grow in popularity for sure. Right now there is little room for fans to engage, very little telecast, this and other team apparel could give fans a way to interact.
  • + 38
Yeah, it's just like buying your favorite football or basketball players jersey. There's no harm in it and its a great source of revenue for the companies and helps fans become even more engaged in the sport.
  • + 23
+1 to that. You already see people buying kits that resemble pro team kits. And in road biking, buying team kits is hugely popular. Not that we should ever emulate the roadie style of apparel, but it's a proven model.
  • - 39
The biking industry is nothing like any other sport though...
  • + 13
They would sell like hotcakes , those jerseys that Bradley wiggins rode in were gold dust for a while apparrently.
  • + 6
Would sorta be like when Sam hills pink demo 8 was auctioned off for cancer... They could do the same thing with jerseys
  • + 37
Fact - I would be waaaay faster if I wore a Gwin replica Jersey.
  • + 3
i would spend just about any money on a monster energy/specialized kit.. seriously. surprised we don't have access to this stuff.
  • + 0
yeah it`s a good idea!! But imagine what will be the price of that limited pro-jerseys??
  • + 4
 way too much thats what
  • + 3
Its a great idea, most other sports release team jerseys etc., so the cycling (DH) scene should defiantly join in!
  • + 2
arent the monster energy spesh team on tld kits with logos just sublimated on? wouldnt be hard but other teams yeah, a TWR jersey would be sweet as i dont like the look of the royal lineup (2012)
  • + 4
i would love to be able to buy a jersey with my fav riders name on it.
  • + 1
true it could be a pain in the ass to sublimate yourself
  • - 1
go ahead and neg prop me, but im kinda agreeing with Adam, MTB is a sport not many people do. I dont really like the fact of doing the same things as football, hockey and stuff. I think more little kids would buy these jerseys with pro names on them than people who acually ride. And besides, some pros already have their names on stuff like t shirts, jeans, components and frames. Were already thinking outside the box, no need to step into what other sports do and be all mainstream
  • + 3
 eehh
I'm not going to lie, I agree with Adam. I respect these guys and what they do.... but that's stepping into the realm of hero worship. It's like those kids that play hockey wearing a Sydney Crosby jersey, name and everything. It would be kind of silly to bike around with a jersey that says "SAM HILL" on the back when you're just some average joe. I can somewhat understand team sports, but come on. This is mountain biking. We've got to have some sort of individuality here.
  • + 0
yaaay out of -92 props, I found people who think the biking industry is a one of a kind industry and doesn't have to follow other industries. There would be so many little kids buying it being big posers.. plus, you go to one event like crankworx, and the pros are all around you. In like hockey or football, they're like squished into their rooms, through a hall, and directly to the playing field. Biking, its so chill that you can just go up to a pro and have a full on conversation with the pros.. way different industries that should never be compared.
  • + 0
It would be stupid to be able to buy "limited edition" jerseys because then everybody would have them and you wouldn't have something special.
  • + 10
 Where is Protour?
  • + 12
Writing his biography about his life on pinkbike. Should be about the same size of any modern dictionary.
  • - 3
For sure man, (1st Comment) I've always thought these Jerseys were hella sick, i have wanted them sooooo badly but can never get them, I'm actually just thinking of making one if companies don't mass produce them
  • - 6
 I can supply a Semen(dunno about the uk jersey)...:p
  • + 8
Make your own jersey with a pro name on the back? Really now that's acually pretty dumb
  • + 6
based on the large number of people who would want to buy a limited/special/ team version of pro kit, it would probably be a good thing for the companies to offer such kit.

Would I buy such kit? No.

Would I wear such kit? Probably, if it was free.

As it is, I try and stay away form any form of kit that has large logos or names , be it team sponsors' or manufacturer's. If I'm already paying for it, why would I also want to be a walking advertisement for them?

Is Monster sponsoring me? Why the hell would I want their name on my shirt?!!?

As for having a pro's name on my back... come on! If I would think of myself as worthy, maybe I'd have my name, but somebody else's? Why? I look up to them, but I don't have their skill or their name.

I'd rather splash paint on my shirt and have a one-of-a-kind shirt than copy all the others out there.

Start being original.
  • + 3
MTB may be kind of unique but it's full of fan bois who want to emulate their heroes just the same as ANY other sport , and trust me there is allready plenty of ' posers' out there riding bikes.
  • - 2
At AdamLaycockPhoto... you should be sorry that you think it's kinda stupid !! Go hang yer head in shame
  • + 2
 Cybor bulking isn't cool guys.
  • + 1
Andrew Taylor's tee for me! yeay! Big Grin
  • + 0
I would never buy a shirt with someone else's name on it. They could make an option to have your own name on it though, that would be cool. Why would anyone spend a load of cash to have someone else's name on their back? What's wrong with you? Try to get your own name on your back through effort an results and I applaud you. Buy someone else's shirt... leave me out.

I just read Arnold's book. If there's one underlying theme it is reach for the sky. Aim high my friends. Don't offer to buy a shirt with someone else's name on it. Work hard and have them buying your bikes instead.
  • + 1
i would. because its a good way to show what riders and companies you support.
  • + 1
I'd rather just favourite a video of them on pinkbike...
  • + 1
I prefer to support my own family rather than someone else's!
  • + 2
well you already are supporting some body else's, in buying bikes and gear etc. I think your missing the point here, this would be a way to expres your favorite rider but also have a jersey that you could shred in. not something you would just buy and never use (altho some may do that)
  • + 1
i don't think i'd want a rider's name on my jersey, but i would definitely wear a team kit.
  • + 1
I just don't see the point. It smells of fanboi to me.

I think there is a definite gap in the market to have your own name put on a shirt though. I'd pay an extra tenner for that, as long as it looked good (not like those half arsed premier league iron-on transfers they have on footy shirts).
  • + 1
oh my godd, I'm not talkin about copying it exactly, I'm talkin about mainly just the same print on it, i like the red/grey/black camo on it. I would get the same type of pattern just maybe change it up a little, but not with all the ads and shit on it, or the name.
  • + 1
My Birthday is November 16th, Would make a great present!
  • + 2
sorry to burst your bubble. but the winner was announced like 2 weeks ago
[Reply]
  • + 61
words cannot explain how pumped i would be to win this. Out of all those online contest you enter for trips and all kinds of much more extravagant stuff, this still seems to trump them in my books!
  • + 47
I don't know man, I can honestly say I would rather win a new bike. The jersey would be cool to have and hang up in your room, but a bike provides so much fun and entertainment.
  • + 51
How about Gwin's winning bike? If only...
  • - 13
meh, if it was stevie smiths jersey i would be a whole lot more pumped
  • + 40
A chance to wear a jersey sweated in by a fast ginger man ! I'm in !
  • + 10
Yeah, I'd totally take Gwin's blacked out and chromed Worlds bike. That was the sexiest bike I've ever seen.
  • + 15
Any wall I put it up on would probably just collapse from pure awesome
  • - 10
do u guys know how often those bikes have to be serviced? pretty much after every ride...
it would be swet as hell tho
  • - 22
Go out and do something with your life, that way you wont have to rely on winning stupid competitions. Wink
  • + 1
Keeps the World Cup mechanics busy on those bikes!
  • - 6
and the brakes clearly dont work ..
  • + 8
i think i should have put this as 'if you won his bike you'd have to fit brakes because gwin doesnt use them'
  • + 2
I would love to win this for my birthday in two days!!!
  • + 1
 Made me buy one!
  • + 4
variszairns , go do some thing with your life then you won't have to slag people off on forums to make your self feel better.

  • + 1
give Schy an evoc pack... best comment in a long time!
  • + 2
Just asking, a lot of the time when I see contests for a bike or something, always says at the bottom

*participants must be 18 or older*

...
  • + 2
^ because in the U.S. you're considered a minor and minors create a whole other legal mess... not sure of the specifics but that's all I know... either that or they hate kids.
  • + 3
Minors and Miners are both welcome to enter...
  • - 1
You couldn't give this to me. Why would anyone in their right mind want a sweaty old shirt that doesn't fit properly?
  • + 3
Oh jaame we all know you entered and are just saying that incase you dont win. lol
[Reply]
  • + 51
please jesus let me win juuuust this once

  • + 11
 I don't need a 401k just gimme the jersey
  • + 11
 pinkbike more competition's please
  • + 3
Pedantic maybe, but surely this is a raffle, not a competition...
  • + 2
i would class a raffle as a competition
  • + 4
Guess I'd best get in training before I sign up then...
  • - 3
Jesus hates mountain biking, I read it in the Bible. Or was Thou shalt not commit adultery? I'm easily confused.

[Reply]
  • + 6
If i win this jersey, i think i'll just give it to some homeless guy
  • + 1
he wouldnt be able to pawn much for it though... shop wouldnt understand its real value if I had won that intense I wouldve sold it and gave the proceeds to the homeless guy who looked worst off
  • + 1
i would assume he would wear it for warmth, you no Canadian winters are cold as balls
  • + 2
our bike shop program rebuilds and recycles bikes for homeless people. they arent anything like that Intense, but they are reliable bikes that provide them with free transportation to shelters, jobs and food sources.

I would rather have that jersey on the wall of my man cave than some NFL, NHL, NBA player. Atleast you can have a conversation with most MTB pro's at a race, try that with the millionaire athletes of other sports.
