YESSS!!! Claudio's course previews make my week. "Maybe I should definitely talk a little less and pin it a little more, but that would only be half as interesting" … Best person alive, FACT!
When I saw him enter that section I was like "oh yeah that's where I crashed last time" and then he crashes. There's nothing embarassing about crashing there if you're pushing it. You can easily hit warp speed and it's usually super loose, not an easy mix.
Marzocchi's coating isn't better. Marzocchi's coating is a very simple coating, Kashima does have less stiction than the Marzochhi's. Any fork can go wrong with improper maintenance. My mate has ridden his bike into the ground but he maintains it at the same time. He has never had a problem with his Kashima stanchions losing colour or scratching or having blemishes in the tube. I'm gonna say your friend didn't take care of his fork/shock.
I can't remember exactly the stiction reduction that Kashima gives but I remember vaguely reading something along the lines of 27%.
TBH If you keep your fork clean after every ride and keep an eye on the seals then all forks are good forks (from a certain price, not Suntour cheap shit). Everyone bashes on about the CTD being rubbish when in reality it is a perfect fork for the more novice riders out there who have no clue about suspension setup and would just get confused with all of the options available on the non-CTD forks.
Very true. However before my mechanic got his Stanton (which are lush btw) had RST forks on his bike and they worked alright but RST refused to give us the service tools so he got RS Travel adjust forks (begins with an S).
i like how you guys are trying to debate which coating is the best, when in reality a good seal/wiper design is much much much more important to help reduce stiction. (which, of course, was not mentioned once in this comment thread)
the new 2014 stuff is already re-valved for it, so you dont need to send it in or pay for the upgrade.. and yes, i know, 'what about all the OG CTD peeps?'
I say the same thing i say everytime: they should just be happy thay fox made this an easy, cheap, fix. while i somewhat agree that it is foxs fault, im just happy to see that they're still thinking of their current customers and not just potential customers.. you must also keep in mind that it is simple IMPOSSIBLE to valve a fork for everybody out there. just too many variables.. my buddy has 3 pairs of manitou forks sitting in his garage that he cant use cause he cant get a seal/wiper kit for em, and theyre only 5-6 years old.. fox isnt that bad, although there are some people that are out their to make it their life mission to try and get people to think that.
then again, the people that really know whats up dont complain at all, because they realize that other than brakes and proper geo, suspension is the next important thing on the list.. i know some people will buy a brand new shock, just to have it shipped off and tuned to their riding style and frame. same with the fork, just not as frequent.
all the people arguing about coatings on here aren't nearly fast enough for the coating to make a difference in their times, think that should be a new marketing campaign "if you have to buy this fork you're nowhere near good enough to use it to its full potential but we're going to sell it to you anyway"
well no duh there is going to be a difference, theyre different coatings! what really matters is how different it is... i agree with tabletop.
from what i understand, most people cant tell the difference between the two.
I think that blenki is made for this track, he like long and technical tracks like this one and fort william... hill could do, too. but mainly i would prefer to mister atherton, minaar and the consitent riders who can get on top of the box...
Dam allot has been cut out of the track, so many sections gone replaced by wide open really wide flat stuff even towards the end, love the speed but they have taken too much away!
That's why it's also very ironic that Claudio kept commenting on the maintenance of the course. The only reason they maintained it this year is because of the lack of maintenance... I'm putting my money on this, DH won't be around in MSA much longer...
GEE has the strength to do it ! He s done his homework in the offseason . SAM HiLL doesnt like this track . And doesnt like pedalling . Remy is a good rider man ! All the respect for winning in ANDORRA ! So what if he had the suspension dialled ? Its his credit for winning ! And regarding this track being easy , I doubt it ! Its SUPER LONG ! and down there it is SO ROUGH !
C'mon dudes, it's obvious that the most fittest and strongest guys have a huge advantage on this course, so for me Gee is favorite, also minaar and i think peaty will finally make the top ten (good in carrying speed....)
Claudio is a boss! Love that guy!
Fox sucks along with their Krapshima coat.
btw. marzo's coating reduce striction by 20%

"i remember my first beer"
CTD is perfectly fine for ANYONE. it just needs to be re valved.. easy $40 dollar fix if you send it into fox

this guys is pure gold, and to think he's not even native English speaker, but then again that's maybe half the charm.
Oohh sswwwEEEEEEAAAAAAAT!!
Track sure has a ton of "freeway" sectors.
