Girls throwing down on bikes and Mexican Wrestling-all at Crankworx 2007

Womens Worx - The Gala went off yesterday with 40 ladies participating in the event that saw them wind their way down the mountain from the Garbanzo zone all the way to the Bone Yard.

The evening was filled with parties through out the village, but the two to be at were the Dirty Girls Gala at Merlins and NWD Films film shoot in Function Junction. It was Mexican Wrestling with a Freeride Twist!With 40 riders and only one casualty, I have to say that the Gala was a success. The girls progressed and pushed themselves through out the day and there were smiles everywhere. Station #1 was Goat's Gully in the Garbanzo zone and it tested the ladies technical skills.





From Goat's Gully the procession headed down to mid-mountain and onto Schleyer where the riders would be judged on their flow through the Schleyer drop and through to the rock table after it. Station #2 was judged by none other then Ritchey himself.


After Ritchey critiqued the girls, it was time to head to Crab Apple hits for some high speed airs under the watchful eye of Geoff Gullevich. Station #3 was based on the rider's ability to keep their flow through the jumps and add some flair along the way.


The last station for the Gala would be where the ladies got to show their best tricks on the jumps in the Bone Yard. The advantage to following 40 girls around is that it smells better on the hill, the downside is that i only saw like 3 girl's runs in the Bone Yard.



The awards went something like this-Claire Buchar took the Pro win, while Cassie Brown got HOOKED up as the winner of the Amateur ranks. Godd work ladies.


The Dirty Girls Gala followed after it was all said and done with a party at Merlin's Bar.

Each day you see people you only get to see once a year or new shinny parts that won't be out for months.

Enough about the village though as the big event for the evening was going down just outside of town in Function Junction. The NWD Films crew was in Function Junction shooting for their upcoming release-New World Disorder 8 Smack Down!
