Nope, 2002 camp lincoln, NY. 50mph on a foes dhs mono with marzocchi shivers off a ramp built by carpentry students still stands. About 30% longer & same height but tripple the speed.. rookie mistake was wearing a helmet (AKA water brake) sorry put the call out for the footage but none back yet. we had 3 cameras rolling & rescue canoes so you'll just have to trust me ..
Biggest or highest or longest to me is not the point of this video, I see abunch of guys having FUN in a bike.
I did a Little of this 30 years ago and I can tell you, this guys have tremendous control to be able to fly that high and that fast and have such good landings.
Forget about the records, go out and enjoy your bike and your friends.
Cheers
does any one know what the actual bike jump record (distance, height. size) (on land) ive been looking for it forever. also is there a video if you answer id need to know the actual distance in feet.
thanks but i feel like i have seen bigger ones on the 2nd and 3rd clips of this video(matt hunter, Graham Aggasie) go on youtube and look up ''Freeride Mountain biking in BC'' i think this is the address not sure though www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSv4YniNlN0 sorry i cant make it go blue I'm not good with the google machine its the one that says ''Freeride Mountain biking in BC'' it has a plywood ramp with a black carpet on the ramp and its in the woods
I don't know if I missed something, but the guys going for 150' didn't get there from what I could see. I hope they do. They're the only ones that have bothered to do it properly. Tow-ins are lame & stupid. Who the f*ck cares if you need a moto to pull you in. Then there's no point. Still, Colin Winkelmann's 116'er was the gnarliest distance jump ever done. I don't think anyone on an FMB has come close to the ramp to ramp distance that Winkelmann had with his & he was on a BMX. It's a shame that FMBs are so far behind when it comes to this. MXs are on their way to 500' & BMX had a record in 2000 that still rivals MBs record now. Pathetic. Mike Montgomery had some big plans. I hope he's still gonna go for it. These dirt farm guys deserve huge cred for their vision, abolish tow-ins.
Racefit, don't trust you. Talk is cheap. Put up the proof or don't waste your time.
They should just find a really steep mountain with no jumps or turns and go straight down it with a big a$$ jump at the bottom. Any way that you could reach maximim velocity, but no tow ins thats p*$$y s$!t. The suspension would have to be either really really stiff (as in if you push down on the forks with all your weight but they don't budge) or you only have 130mm-160mm also very stiff. The tires would have to be smooth ass a baby a$$. It would be a very light bike like a Santa Cruz v10 which i think is only 30Ibs im not sure. The trail down the mountain would have to be as smooth as possible and you cant touch the brakes at all.And an extremly skilled rider. He/she can NOT do any tricks while in mid air, that would slow you down by quite a bit. The spacing between the end if the trail and the jump can only be 15-30 feet the closer the better. and most important is that you are not trying for height your going for distance, so make the ramp at a shallow angle so it will just launch you. Now i would gladly do it but i'm affrade i dont have the money, bike, place to do it or balls big enough. So one of you guys should do it. TEACH THOSE LITTLE BMX F^@KERS HOW WE DO IT.
Not sure how being towed in by a motorcycle is lame or stupid, it's cheaper than building a giant roll in like they do in the x-games. It's the same idea when Hoffman built his megaramp(on his own budget, mind you, there was no money from sponsors then) back in the early 90's.
sorry 150ft
