The new Elite crank from Profile is almost ready, and it looks sick. Instead of putting the crank arms on a standard 19mm spindle with a crank tool and removing them with a tool and a hammer, this new crank uses a wedge to spread the spindle and keep the crank on. To take it off, simply undo the bolt and pull it off. Easy.

So, i'm thinking i might lock my bike to post more often...
  • + 71
If it attracts hot women in skimpy clothes I think I might try that as well.
  • + 70
yah its how me and my girlfriend met
  • + 24
Your girlfriend is a bike thief? Traitor.
  • + 26
I have a hot girl locked to my post, my wife.^^
  • + 16
i just locked both my downhill and street ride to the post outside............. I'm now waiting.......
  • + 12
Hope you don't hammer her to hard, then!
  • + 4
Why did you put your DH there too? Shouldn't a street bike be enough if she's willing to hit that trash in the picture?
  • + 6
I feel like she should be wearing safety glasses or something
  • + 11
^^ I think you'd be the one needing to wear protection...
  • + 3
 lol. I believe you're right.
  • + 3
My bike was locked to a post and I got my stem stolen today... I had qr wheels and a qr seat (why not steal that), WHO THE F** REMOVES 7 BOLTS TO STEAL A STEM!!?
  • + 2
 Was it a Straitline stem?
  • + 2
I laughed out loud at that. Now you have me scared of poverty-struck cyclists wandering around with Allen wrenches looking for new stems.

  • + 16
Not sure about the inner tube bag- great idea but it looks like it's made from a gimp suit- (not that i'd know)
  • + 3
I wasn't either, but my brother bought one from this company alchemygoods.com and I was really impressed. Borderline hipster, but far more efficient and useful then that word suggests.
  • + 2

Those Giro roadie shoes are just hideous. Needless to say more.
  • + 10
 They look like football boots
  • + 9
FUGLY in the extreme!!!! Although expect to see prenty of MAMILS wearing them Smile
  • + 0
Oh come on, even football shoes look better than these things.
  • + 7
Yeah, but roadies will eat that shit up thinking it is cool. Hip/retro disaster.
  • + 1
 They look like soccer/football/futball cleats!
  • + 3
I don't ride road or clips but thought the black ones looked really cool.
  • + 3
I don't really get the point of casual clipless. Clipless is by definition NOT casual. BMX style pedals + grippy shoes are very casual and perform well, and you don't have to worry about the clickity-clack when walking around or wearing out cleats. Laces on road shoes? Road cleats are terrible for walking around in. Anyone remember SPD sandals?
  • + 3
They do look exactly like soccer cleats, specifically like Nike's Mercurial line. Plus what the hell is with laces on road shoes?
  • + 2
they look like bowling shoes to me :/
  • + 1
At least if a dude is wearing these, people won't be thinking about how bad men look in spandex shorts

BELL END full face looks nice . I had a bell full face years ago not much to look at but it saved my life / brains when i crashed really hard . I rate BELL END Big Grin

Im still confused about the whole concept of Fat Bikes?
  • + 3
They are good for riding on snow maybe?
  • + 5
 Snow and sand I believe.
  • + 3
The snow has to be perfect condition, almost always better with regular bike. Trust me i live in Alaska...
  • + 1
The idea is that you get some of the squish and extra rolling ability of a 29er or fsus, but without too much loss in efficency. They take a while to get up to speed, but once you do, they're unstoppable. They don't handle too terribly either. The disadvantages of course being that they're heavy as shit and much more expensive than anything else rigid.
  • + 2
Don't forget the massive grip from all that extra surface area! Those big tires allow really low pressures so good shock absorber too
  • + 1
I rolled one round a parking lot - they are like perpetual motion machines on tarmac - two pedal strokes and I went round and round and round and they handle really nicely too, a small lean and they just go round corners. I couldnt justify actually buying one but they look interesting - money no object I'd chuck one in the collection and ride it three times a year!
  • + 1
 @dom69foco

yeah the low pressure, high volume tires are the key to the ability to let you traverse very soft surfaces (be it snow, sand or bog) where a regular bike will not run

I spent a lot of time driving quad bikes (Honda Big Red) on farms on very wet ground where even a 4 x 4 Land Rover or Tractor could not run, and the fat mountain bike uses the same principle in its tire / wheel system

the Honda Big Red 4 x 4 quad bike has so much air volume in those big tires, it will actually float on water!! (which totally shocked me when I was told this by my ATV certificate examiner and then asked to drive the quad across a small pond)

check this out for a wicked fat bike, Hanebrink electric: www.pinkbike.com/photo/6469089

Where those fat tired bikes are being ridden? I cannot imagine to ride one of those on anything else than snow or sand. But they are cool. Big Grin

mostly used in the winter, but I have started to see them on the trails in the summer. At which point I simply chuckle and politely ask them to let me pass...

Since when was the VW camper van called a window van?
  • + 1
Its a contraction of split window vans. He's referring to VW vans built prior to 1967 with a split front windscreen (2 windows as opposed to 1). Having said that the use of this contraction might have Colin turning over in his grave.

Shoot, I'm loving the color on the Cam Zink hardtail... Is that Cam Zink's bike, or is it a production pro build on a bike?
Is hyper going to ever make him a slope bike and DH bike? Looks like he's riding the same bike in this rampage that he rode in 2010 (same model).
  • + 4
even though zink wasn't on hyper in 2010?
  • - 2
my understanding is that the company he was on in 2010, corsair, became hyper through some business thing, and all of the models just got rebranded.
  • + 3
Eric Carter is doing the Hyper thing now. They used to be a pretty reputable BMX brand.
  • - 5
in 2010 Zink had a EVIL bike for rampage not a hyper, neither corsair
  • + 2
He was riding for Evil Bikes in 2011 I think? He won with the carbon Evil at Chatel Mountain Style.
  • + 3
Mmm no. Evil picked him up in 2011, so why would he ride their bike in 2010 when corsair was sponsoring him?

He ride a corsair dominion in 2010. Look it up. He also got a repainted corsair dominion that he is riding now. Hyper got cam, and Pablo, the designer of corsairs 2010 bikes. Basically the corsair suspension design got picked up by hyper, and corsair is now run by Jim severt "hacksaw" and he uses single pivot tech, but still uses corsair names (konig).

Technically cam is on a 2010 corsair dominion, but because Pablo is hypers designer, hypers DH bike will be very similar to the dominion. In my original statement, I was wondering when hyper would design a new bike, or at least updated 2013 versions of the dominion and cams slope bike (which is also originally corsair, but he rode it last year because evil never made him a slope bike, then he repainted it red).

I also think I read somewhere, that when cam first joined hyper, he needed a hardtail to compete, so he repainted a felt jumpshot and rode that (at first, he probably switched it up later).
  • + 4
looks like a crap k-mart frame with good gear on it. the name even sounds like a mid-nineties kiddies bike...what self respecting adult/teenager is gonna ride a bike called "hyper"? ??

deep breath...ready for the negative props bwahahaha
  • + 3
If it would be such a bad frame (a k-mart brand, snapping all the time, shitty geo. etc.), I'm pretty sure Cam would not ride it. He's one of the bigger names out there in the freeride scene, he could get a sponsorship with a bigger brand if he wanted to.
  • + 7
Who cares what he was riding at any point in time. Unless he locked it to a post...
  • + 1
When I was a kid I worked at Canadian tire assembling bikes, assembling Hyper bmx's as well. Anyone know if this is the same brand operating at a new standard?
  • + 2
same brand. same owner. but now since the owner made a lot of money off of the cheap bikes he used to sell in the big box stores, so now he wants to start making mtb frames and make his once questionable company into a more reputable one.
  • + 1
Green is such a difficult color.
  • - 4
cam rode a grey dh bike at rampage, but when he crashed his seat came off and it got pretty fucked up so he switched bikes and won on a 09 session 88dh
  • + 6
 Larry...
Where the hell did you hear that?
Check out this picture, it is a picture of Cam at rampage.... that is not a session. This is the same bike he rode both runs....

and to cap it off, heres him on the podium, seat intact, a 2009 session nowhere in sight.
www.livemetalstudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/CamZinkWinsRampage.jpg

seriously, why would Cam hang the corsair dominion in his house, right above the front door as his "rampage winning bike" if he won on a session?
  • + 0
looks like a perty shitty bike, cant even tell if its alum or chromo

da moose, sorry, you were right, i stand corrected, www.mountainflyermagazine.com/img/upimages/eddie_clark/RedBullRampage_2010/EClark_2010_RBR_0653.jpg here is more proof for you.
for some reson i remember being told it was a session. whatever. maybe it was confused with the 08 podium.
i get the seat point tho.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKXYKbdgEmM at :41 thats his seat. at :46 the bike is missing the seat.
  • + 1
Ah no big, I didn't know Cam's Seat fell off though. I just thought that he had one when he started, and had one when he finished, I thought it was a part of the Session 88 story. That was a gnarly crash if it mashed his seat that bad!

I am really digging all the split window buses being used for marketing lately. I don't think the average person knows how rare they are becoming and therefore what they are worth. Hopefully the people that drive them have love for them and keep them up, some real beautiful buses at interbike this year. If you dig microbuses, check out Tilamook's baby loafs, not sure if I am ok with the shrunk, but pretty cool none the less.
