Evil Bikes was recently purchased by an undisclosed Seattle based management group, who we will refer to as "The Project" for the time being. The rider owned group has an extensive brand, product development, and design history within the mountain bike industry.
Dave Weagle, the departing President of Evil and the man largely responsible for Evil's beginnings said, “I'm excited for the brand, and excited for the group who is taking over. I've long wanted to see Evil be able to compete in the higher end frame market but I've always felt that doing so would be in conflict with Evil's sister company e.thirteen's interests. The sale of the company will really allow Evil to move on. I Kind of feel like what I imagine a parent feels like when their first child leaves home and gets married. I'm proud of what our team did with Evil, and the quality that the brand has stood for. I am looking forward to watching as an outsider as the company works to fulfill its destiny.”
The new president of Evil Bikes ( who will remain anonymous at this time, due to possible warrants), had this to say: "We apologize for the smoke and mirrors introduction, but we want to allow ourselves the necessary time to give you the best products possible, and letting the cat out of the bag would be no fun. What we can say, is that we have assembled a rogue team of hard charging industry veterans, designers, and riders with a common goal of building a world class brand and a global community that services riders everywhere. Evil has had a strong history of innovation and we are planning to continue that with a full scale rebrand, lots of fun, and products designed by people that ride bikes at least 3 days a week. Stay tuned, we'll be ready to show new softgoods and hardgoods in the near future. ” In the meantime feel free to waste all of your free time starting rumors on the interweb!, but for slightly more accurate news and updates, periodically check the evil bikes website. www.evil-bikes.com.
Daily operations will kick off on or around April 1st, for sales or service related questions contact nfo@evil-bikes.com

I saw this the other day and was pissed. I started a thread about it and most people seem to think it's Transition who bought Evil. It is after all a rider owned company based pretty much out of seattle.
transition aint based outta seattle, and there are plenty of riders in the area that would fit that description in the seattle area and who would have the money to buy out evil, so transition may be up there, but i wouldn't put my money on them. also, they are almost 100 miles from seattle, closer to bc, so why do people always refer to them as a seattle company? they aren't in seattle.
I think that its transition. its the most logical guess
My first (and only) guess is Transition. Seattle+rider owned=Transition
I hear google bought them...they want to take over the e-biking world!
I'm pretty sure Google is HQ'd here (Palo Alto).
Im pretty sure the ebay hq, and paypal hq are here in san jose, not palo alto. I live about 10 min from both complexes.
and why would any web company buy a small bike company. It would be a waste of money in terms of the amounts they generally deal with. They could probably buy out every bike company out there and them some if they wanted.
I'm interested to see how this turns out. My money is on transition and if it is them I'm mixed about how I feel.
On the one hand, great company. But then again, they arent Evil.
I'm curious to see how they carry the brand, I just hope they dont take it in the wrong direction.

I know exactly how you feel. Transition is a great company, but Evil was much better IMO. One thing I loved about Evil was that they didn't build their frames to be super burly. They built them to be strong where needed and light where it could be without comprimiseing strength. That and Evil is the only company I have ever seen that made a frame that is lighter than claimed on the website. No Kona that's "36 pounds" here. (AKA, total BS.)
They had good quality bikes once, but hopefully they're better looking this time around
I really liked my DOC when i owned it. However, that being said, the transition TOP is a very nice bike from what I understand. It would be interesting to see if Transition bikes did purchase them, to see what kind of data they transfer over into there bike.
if transition did buy evil,im not riding my D.O.C....
Well put.
It even said that the company had designers and product testers and managers, which puts Transition out of the question.

im sorry guys but its not transition gareunteed if you look back at a few post e-13 was doing some deals with evil so think about it whos doing the deal and why would transition want evil in the first place i think it would hinder bothe companys if transition bought them out
Uhh buddy, Evil and E-13 were the same company. Evil has technology Transition doesn't too. It would be a smart move for Transition to buy Evil and they are the only rider owned bike company based out of seattle.
I'll put money against anyone who thinks it's Transition! Or a frame, I could use a new one but I'm holding out for a new Evil bike soon...
I can't wait to see what they have in the pipeline and who's on the team. It might be interesting with the riders who have recently left their sponsors.
Wasn't there a rumor that DW pulled his signature link from IH? Hmm...
Jason

Not a rumor about DW and Iron Horse parting ways. It is true, there will be a new dw Link dh bike and it won't be an Iron Horse....
As for the Evil deal, I really liked how Evil was always East Coast, and I hope it stays that way somehow.

Hey guys, it's Kevin from Transition Bikes. We are definitely not the ones buying Evil.
I'm not trying to call you a liar, but if you were buying Evil, you would try to claim you're not. You know, to keep it secretive. I'll go with your statement though and ask if you have any clue as to who is buying out Evil?
i really doubt kevin would lie.
your just being retarded.
keeping things hush hush wouldnt do them any good.....

actually to correct all for you transition is in bellingham. not seattle. but that's my guess too....
If you're going to correct everyone you should try to be right...Ferndale, 15 miles north of B'ham but close enough.
hmm. yea i dont recon transition would buy em. but they do have a point. transition is the only rider owned company out of seattle
transition bikes are so much nicer so hopefully they improve evil bikes, if they did buy them.
dude if you like slow ass head angles and long ass rear ends and clearance for like a 2.25 then yeah transition might possibly have a chance you want a bike you can chuck off anything and punish run fat tires in, have short rear ends, agile front ends and comfortable seat angles the evil kills every time
well since Kevin said they did not I root for them not buying them..i hope that evil does not go in the way cannondale did though..our store dropped cannondale because of what was going on with their buyers..
Hey everyone, this is one of the new owners of Evil. I just want to let you all know we are not associated in any with Transition, so no need to harass those guys with calls or emails. We're an independent group of industry rats, designers, and pro riders. We are not owned by anyone but ourselves!
Expect to see new frames, new softgoods, and lots of new ideas in the coming months. This is the bike company you've all been begging for for years...are you ready?

i knew it wasn't transition...if km is on here telling people that it's not, then it has to be somebody else. are the new owners involved w/ anybody who has a machine shop and works closely w/ guys from fluidride and dhz at all? if so, i think i might know who some of the new crew are.
Sorry guy, but I don't think anyone here has been wanting a secretive, lying, decieving company to take over a long time favorite owned by a very open customer friendly person!!!
We are being "secretive" for entirely fun reasons
We are certainly a tongue-in-cheek, beer-in-hand group of individuals.
Don't worry; no lying or deceiving involved. Everyone in on "The Project" are guys and gals who most of you already know & love from other bike or component companies. If Evil is your favorite bike co now, it's gonna be your favoriter bike co in a few months! Hold tight, keep yer eyes peeled at events and in pics, and expect even more of what you've loved about Evil in the past!

Thanks for the re-assuring words; I can finally un-wad my panties now.
iv got a d.o.c and i love it,cant wait to see what they come out with!!!!
hhhhmmmmm........Vanderham????????
Is this why its taking a while for my LG1 I ordered from e-13 to get here?
Could have bought Nemesis Projects... think they are from washington
business is business, quit crying. Its called capitalism, which just so happened to be what our nation was founded by.
Well, it isn't the gang at One Ghost Industries (we're in Portland and the only rider owned bike company in Oregon). www.oneghost.com it loads slow as hell though. (BTW..Corsair is in Utah)
Isn't Konig(spelling)bikes out of Seattle?
The Konig is a modle of Corsair bikes... their in utah acording to^^
It was only a matter of time before StarBucks entered the mountain bike scene. I'll take one DRS and a decaf frappaccino please.
This sounds interesting, I will stay tuned.
It's will always be East Coast innovation in my book.
Black Market is all that really matters!!!
It could be players involved with Sapa / Anodizing inc who make all of the domestically manufactured frames for a lot of different bike companies...
I think people misunderstood the first paragraph...
The "undisclosed Seattle based management group" is the group who is buying Evil.
Evil is the "rider owned group has an extensive brand, product development, and design history within the mountain bike industry."
So, the company buying Evil is not a Seattle based bike company, but rather a Seattle based management group...
Any thoughts?

i think you know how to read and are much smarter than all the other tards who are gossiping

You're wrong.
You're wrong.
A group of pros in some sort of deal with Seattle Bike Supply? They are a distributor as well as owners of redline, torker, pryme, potenza.
thats my 2 Cents
thats my 2 Cents
My guess would be the guys at GoHuckYourself, I seem to remember them being big evil fan-boys back in the day
