Now it's time to get generous again, do a good deed, or just try to win an Intense UZZI. All you need to do is click on this link and donate $5 - (or more. The more you donate, the more chances you have of winning this $5500 bike.) Last year we raised over $30,000 for FCANCERUP.COM Let's smash that record.

This Intense F*CK Cancer bike - a pink Uzzi - is being raffled off to raise money and awareness to assist young women who are fighting breast cancer. Shimano, Fox, Loaded, HT, ODI and Intense teamed up to trick out the Pink shredder.

The grand prize: This Pink Intense UZZI is a unique bike, specially built to generate resources and raise awareness, to help cancer victims. The frame is a piece of industrial art, hand-built in the Temecula California Intense Factory. We had it powder coated around the corner from our factory here, we picked the loudest, hottest color to really follow the initiative shown with the F~CKCANCERUP campaign. (please note - contest to open to EVERYONE. The bike will be shipped internationally to where ever the winner is from.)

The industry’s best have stepped up to donate to this cause. This bike was supported by and is loaded with:
· Fox Suspension donated the forks,
· Shimano donated the drivetrain and brakes
· Loaded donated the Bars, Stem and Seat post.
· ODI donated the lush grips.
· Intense Cycles donated the frame, and did the rest.

How it works: For every $5 donated, you will earn one chance to win this bike. So if you donate $25 that is five chances. The winner will be selected from a magical spreadsheet using random.org. and will then be notified by e-mail.

Your contribution will:
• Fund support and education programs for young women affected by breast cancer.
• Help support YSC’s mission to ensure no young woman faces breast cancer alone.
• Raise awareness that young women can and do get breast cancer.

Clearly it is a cross country race winning machine! I am not sure why anything over the $3000 mark is more than 2x10 anymore.

The spider and 42T chainring look completely different on the triple FC M780 crank:

bike.shimano.com/publish/content/global_cycle/en/us/index/products/mountain/Deore_XT_Black/product.-code-FC-M780-L.-type-.fc_mountain.html

That Uzzi has a 2x on it. End of convo.

flag gnrendeiro (Oct 10, 2012 at 3:39)
It is a 2 by 10 crank... the silver shadings are from the outer ring, probably to reduce dirt inside the crank. If you look close you'll see that the bigger ring is tightened to the inside of the crank which means it is in the place of the second ring, therefore, you only have two rings in the front. Although I wasn't counting the rear cogs, I'm pretty sure it will be 10, so it is a 2*10 Wink.

This is an awesome cause and an awesome thing to do. I lost an aunt to cancer, another aunt is a 4 time survivor, my mom is a survivor and my wife just had a lump removed. I fully support this. I'll paypal my donation later regardless. Though I could definitely use a new ride. Mine is.... well ancient. Lets just say that I'm running triple crowns on a hard tail. Remember when that was cool! LOL!

Why is this only aimed at female breast cancer?
  • + 19
flag phantommtb (Oct 9, 2012 at 6:19)
i agree... my father almost died from it but they caught it in time and he is cancer free now over 10 years later... its a shame they don't tell men they can get it too. so many men die from it every year just because no one tells them they can get it too, and if they know many are to embarrassed to do anything about it because its a "womens disease". working in a medical field it is really sad to see sexism like this. it literally kills.
  • + 2
flag alex-h (Oct 9, 2012 at 7:54)
They don't tell men? Everyone knows men can get it... Or at least, it's common knowledge over here. Also, sorry to hear about your dad dude, good news he got better though!

Sick bike! Well worth donating to even if I probably won't win.

Also, it is deeply troubling that breast cancer is often thought of as a 'women's disease' when in fact it affects both genders. It would do a lot of people a lot of good if there existed a campaign to spread awareness of male breast cancer. It would probably do even more good to have a healthy lifestyle campaign that was actually effective; no doubt it would reduce many hardships of the human race.

Credit Cards take a fee as well
  • + 1
flag deeeight Plus (Oct 9, 2012 at 14:38)
Credit Card companies actually will waive the fee if the charges are for charities, and they have lower fees to boot. Paypal charges a percentage fee AND a flat transaction charge at the same time. Paypal can also decide for mysterious internal reasons to place holds on accounts, freezing up access to any funds in them, if "they" suspect fraud is happening. They just are not worthwhile for the potential hassle for charities like this one to deal with, not when they can get direct service from the major credit card companies on far better terms.

People seem to forget, paypal is essentially a money laundering service... they're little better than western union... they offer easy ways for sellers to receive credit card payments, who would otherwise NOT be able to accept them because they don't meet the requirements of being merchants with storefronts/commercial leases and credit rating searches and security deposits. They also let people who wouldn't ever qualify for a credit card, make payments online.

A study came out that 4 out of 10 people can will be affected with breast cancer. And of the four that are affected with breast cancer there is a 7% chance of at least one being a male.

And your ski season might be out the window as well. That being said that to the PB community for helping raise money and awareness. Thanks you.
