Hopefully RCR doesn't tear down all the features at Kicking Horse like they did in Fernie. Fernie use to have some really good wood features and apparently after somebody was hurt and took RCR to court it was decided by RCR they needed to remove any overly dangerous obstacles. Golden (Kicking Horse) has some of the best in the world in my opinion and it would be a shame if the powers that be tore them down.

I was getting excited to go to Fernie this year. Guess I'll stick with Kicking Horse. Love that place. I live in Red Deer, AB. Lots of great places to drive to.

Don't bail on Fernie just because of that. We still have a fantastic hill with some very technical runs. There are still some enjoyable wood features as well. Just not as many as we used to have. They had built some new ones last season that were a little more user friendly. It is worth the trip.

Funny, that's exactly what RCR did during the winter when some jackass gaper overshot one of the jumps by a crap ton, sued and got jumps removed from all their resorts.

What! Admittedly, Elk chair is slow and the trails and pretty bad but Timer Chair trails are a different story. Trails off there are better than Kicking Horse (in my opinion), proper fast rooty, dusty DH. And I live in Whistler!

Ive never been to Kicking horse(heard lots of good things though) but i have been to Fernie and i would never go back....zero trail maintenance and that chair lift is so slow its painful...lol

Okay so a silverstar season pass this year for sure, Ill drive 5 hours to ride good trails instead of driving 2-3 to ride dumbed down trails and give money to the assholes that destroy good biking.

I've been to Fernie a couple of times and have no plans to go back. If RCR works their magic on Kicking Horse I'll never ride there again. If they buy up Silver Star or Whistler, someone's going to die!

I just hope they do some actual trail work in Fernie this year. I hate riding the road half way down the mountain after a 20 minute chair lift ride... And open the Timber Chair Thursday and Friday!!!

Too bad that the RCR did not include Mont Saint Anne. In regards of Skiing, RCR recognizes Mont Saint Anne. Why not Mtn-Biking ? Stupid Double Standard.

yah but only 12-4 Monday - Wednesday 12-7 on Thursday - Friday and no timber during the week 10-5 on weekends i was so stoked to be able to ride after work during the week but looks like the new hours will if anything see me with less time on the hill

we use kilometres, and although they are a bit of a drive from each other, both parks are regular stops in the average albertan/ interior BCnians summer resort plans. BC bike parks are worth the drive. whatever the drive is.

hey psyichchuckpuckduck, it's a little known fact outside of our country that in canada when you correct a distance from miles to kilometres, the distance actually decreases between two locations, and you are allowed to increase your speed of travel significantly, and when you arrive at your location, people will ask if you drove in kilometres or miles, and if you answer kilometres- you are awarded with poutine covered in maple syrup. cheers for noticing.

3 hour drive in the UK is about aslong as they get to get to trails really , it's all relative to land mass I guess.
