That was awesome! Respect +50 to Lopes for being a great guy. To all people thinking he is a d*ck - basing on above > he is either a great guy of rare kind or he hires world's best specialist on PR and morality - so haters, you do the math
#8 and parkign issue - that site was such a load of sht, someone reallyyy had a miserable life to take so much effort to channel so much sht, and I don't mean only the stuff about Brian... All of it was a pathetic belch of lack-of-appreciation-issues filled ass
hbcutthecourse was satire at its finest. Sure, satire's not everyone's cup of tea, but your distaste for that style of comic arch commentary doesn't mean it's rooted in misery or lack-of-appreciation. Satire is not slapstick or kids humor. It's lots closer to insult humor. Kum-bah-yah, dude!
Nope that was written by a wanker with frustration level 10. Everything written there is just soaking with frustration. He can't even swear properly, you can't just throw Fk, Fkn so carelessly, it has to have a rhythm, not all words go well together with Fuck. Taking a piss out of someone, something is an art of it's own, and while he might have a good content, the communication was terrible.
Everything goes with fuck.. That fuckin bastard duck was full of fuckin luck when I got my fuckin truck stuck in the fuckin muck tryin to avoid hittin that fuckin schmuck that says cluck in the middle of the fuckin chuck.. Whoa.
WAKI, that's the first time I've read a purely jealous comment from you. Are you seriously talking about literacy among people in the bicycle "industry"? Seriously? It's an "industry" where jr high bro-speak is routine. The freakin' athletes behave like trailer trash while calling themselves "professional" for offering canned, lifeless comments regarding the off-season or the track they're racing on, or about their sponsors' products. And your comments here at PB aren't exactly 25 cent Police Detective graphic novel quality, let alone Michener, let alone Faulkner, let alone Gaddis.
For pete's sake. Don't get professorial here. Even the best MTB "journalism" smells like 11th grade HS english class essay writing.
If you've got something you think is better satire on the MTB "industry" than hbcutthecourse, then please offer it! Show us!
That website was classic. I laughed the entire time I read it, and assumed that was it's purpose? Guys like Lopes probably don't sweat stuff like that. When you are famous you get both sides of it.
CFOxtrot - yeah, that was just my opinion man. I'm jelaous very veeery rarely in life, because that makes you carry a lot of shit in your soul. Last time I was jelaous was in gymnasium, and the girl was involved... it seems you know some authors man
Six66 - that's what I'm talking about, you see you got some rhythm there man!
I just think that if you go to such an extent to start a site and insult people and companies - you'd better do it well... in my opinion that was a poor performance. I advise the author of that pathetics site and everyone in the world to do the following (for the sake of your immortal soul): if you have a computer nearby while you work (maybe you have an office job like me) turn on youtube and type in guys: Robin Williams, Bill Maher, Billy Connolly, Eddie Murphy, Whoopie Goldberg, the best of Eric Cartman if you like - and do what you do listening to it in the background.
You know you have to get to know some of the true classics to develop a taste. If you don't know the classics you might just like any crap, making statements like Frank Gehry is a great architect, Ben&Jerry makes great Ice Cream, Linkin Park is a great metal band, Adam Sandler is a great actor, CB makes quality components...
Some people liked Lenny Bruce and Don Rickles in their primes. Some people like Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.
WAKI, I suggest you watch some Davey and Goliath claymation for your humor.
Lopes allways comes across as a man who lives and breathes bikes and if i had 25% of his riding talent i would be very happy. For him to mention peaty at the end shows you he's the man!!!
no one mentioned how Brian kicked some serious ass a few weeks ago in the brand new UCI event, cross country eliminator. over 40, and whooping on those kids--riding uphill--is DAMN impressive!! keep it up Brian, you are an inspiration to all us older XC'ers
ok, so i just watched UCI round 3 XCE (witch happened yesterday), and Brian finished third--damn impressive. however, he was obviously let down with his own performance--so much that he wouldn't stand on the podium with the other two winners for the flower ceremony. lol, almost seemed like poor sportsmanship. weak sauce Brian, you are a role model.
Brian and Steve, two of the best 'Unoffical-Ambassador' the Sport has. It's the BMX kiddos!! ...and the Comedy. Don't stop riding -- the both of you's!!
Nice to see the props to Steve Peat. Lopes can't be a bad guy! There's a lot of young blood in the sport which will ensure it's legacy however the vets of this sport like Lopes, Peaty, Warner, Palmer, Ray and others have carved a path for them by pushing the boundaries of sport and inspiring us all to ride - thanks guys!
