First Look: Race Face 2013 - Eurobike 2012

NEXT: WHAT'S NEXT?
photo
Race Face continues to impress with refinements to their carbon fibre program. The latest introduction, wider handlebar offerings and a sweet new graphics package across their NEXT XC/Trail brand. Sparked by rider demand for a wider stance, the new generation NEXT is now available in a WIDE FLAT 1/4" rise (28.3" or 720mm), 3/4" riser (28.5" or 725mm), as well as a more traditional 1/4" rise narrow (24.6" or 625mm) option.
photo
Although the NEXT brand is best known for XC applications, it is actually designed to withstand the rigors of the growing Enduro and All-Mountain categories; tested to pass the same stringent Race Face strength/fatigue requirements as the DH bars. A reinforced stem anti-crush zone minimizes the possibility of stress risers where the stem meets bar, while a leading edge unidirectional carbon weave & precise manufacturing process ensure the NEXT bars present at an impressively low XC weight. In other words, Next is the best option for your go-to 'pedal-ly' bike; ultra lightweight for climbing efficiency, stiff and durable for sketchy descents.
photo
The evolution of NEXT branding balances a slick new set of water decal graphic wraps that is careful not to lose the carbon fibre weave below. The matte carbon and gloss decal offer a dynamic finish. A dither effect toward the bar ends creates a visual vibration that just makes you look...well, fast! The new aesthetic is offered in red, green, blue, and carbon (neutral).

now there's no excuse for someone to do a Bob Marley red, yellow frame demo with green atlas parts! I would but I don't have the money. So sorry
  • 6 0
Straner that's awsome Idea. In 3 years time it will be 70th birthday of Bob Marley .(6 Feb.1945)
That's nice excuse to make special edition bike Big Grin

@Waki would that be Tiger Army?

krashDH85 - dunno, half of them have that in the lyrics, I won't go into details as I went through that genre very very briefly and I bet there will be folks just waitin' to say "Killswitch Engage ain't real fkn hardcore!!!" - very slight pun intended, yea but all genres sooner or later become tendentious Razz I just like the power of the "broadcast" RIIIIIISE!!!

I'm not a huge fan of the half waffle grips...Mainly because I never know where to put the waffle part Razz Under my hand or under my fingers? The rest of it looks awesome as usual.
  • 1 0
does any one know what happened to race face? i remember that they went out of buisnes a while ago but then they soon started up again. did they get bought out by a bigger company secretly?

Why aren't the Next Wide Flat's WIDER?!?! FSA makes a 760mm carbon flat bar. I'd love to support my people at RF, but I need MOAR WIDER!

The green cranks and bars wouldn't match on my bike AT ALL but I still want to get them because they're so damn sexy. I'd probably sell my frame to get something that goes with that green, or just repaint my frame green or black, or both.
  • 2 0
Or light blue that would look sick!
  • 1 0
I was already thinking about getting green Outlaws for a white M6...
  • 2 0
Im guessing those bars will eventually be available in more color options, similar to the grip colors.....
  • 1 0
The atlas stealth bars have the same design and that's what I want to get on m bike along with their atlas stealth cranks but that green stands out so much unlike their stealth stuff. But I love their stealth line.
  • 10 0
 those cranks; take my money.
  • 3 0
Hahaha yes take allll my money Smile would full respray my bike to match that shizz!!
  • 5 0
Liking the grip design of just an inner lock on collar. For those of us who ride with our hands on the ends of the bars the lock on collar wrecks my hands. Good work Raceface.

Did I just watch six pictures of candy cane colored handlebars? Definately not my style. On the other hand, I really like the Atlas saddles.
  • 2 1
you must have never seen a candy cane before, this should help lmgtfy.com/?q=candy+cane
  • 1 0
Well I do, but I'm used to seeing them in all colors and sizes (tinyurl.com/cgxu7tr). Either way, those colors don't make the bars any prettier IMHO.

The atlas saddle really reminds me of my SDG Ti Fly saddles, which I love!
  • 3 0
Wait...they even call it the 'Atlas I-Fly' ...coincidence?!
  • 1 0
Thise Next bars look slick, however am a firm believer that the minimum width for bars is 750 mm.... I have wider on the main bike, but if I whip out for a ride on the Trail bike cant go anything narrower than 750mm...

Anyone else suffering this issue?
  • 4 0
Wait two seasons when narrow bars are in. Then you'll be running 500mm bars telling everyone how you cant ride with bars bigger then 550.
  • 2 0
Sounds like SixC is for you. 785mm cuttable to 710mm.
  • 2 0
I changed my handlebar, crankset and grips about 2 weeks ago !!!! ... guess they're already in a bad enough shape that I need to change again :p
  • 2 2
RaceFace carbon bars, when you bang them together, sound kind of like metal for some reason. Emphasis on "kind of"--they're carbon, but they sound much different than I'm used to. They give out high pitched tings, instead of low clunks like Easton and Enve carbon bars. Well, at least with their older SixC riser bars. They're really stiff and hard, I have to say. The surface of the bars is really smooth and polished and aren't really nice for clamping onto... good thing they reinforced those areas. I guess it clinks instead of clunks, because it's so thick walled compared to the others' thinner and more hollowed out bars. Definitely don't look like they're break, but I doubt they'll offer any carbon damping attributes really, that might reduce hand fatigue and arm pump.

  • 1 0
Wow, those green monster bars and cranks would be killer with my black frame with lime accents im building up! Anyone know when they will be available for retail?
  • 1 0

  • 2 1
