Kirt Voreis, Jeff Lenosky, Aaron Chase and Cam McCaul were all at the Outdoor demo for Interbike this year and were able to take some time out of their busy jumping schedule to talk to us about the 2010 line up from Fox Clothing.

Is it just me or are those Launch kneepads a rebrand of 661's?

Not really, they look VERY similar.

POC has a set too. Companies realize that dh riders and racers are all about the knee, not so much shin. Seems to be the same with freeride if they opt for any gear. All their gear looks a lot better though, slimmed down.

Fox released some newer graphic'd lids early in '09. Nice to see a carbon helmet along the choices with the composites. Great looking stuff, wear it proud.

The knee pads are really pretty different in a GOOD way compared to the 661's - I tried some at OutDoor demo this year and they are WAY more comfortable. Pedaled with them on for over an hour.

Oh also on the comment about the guys not wearing Fox helmets - they all have a different helmet sponsor, except if you check out any shot of Cam with a full face on he wears a Fox Rampage helmet - he just can't wear the Fox half shell. I think he is with Bell for that?

None of the guys are wearing fox helmets in the pic while they are riding. May not have to but looks bad for fox.

Yeh, I noticed that too, thought it was pretty funny, I thought Fox might have picked up on that, but maybe not Razz

like I stated, it has to do with contractual obligations. All of them have been signed with other helmet providers for a while. Cam does use the Fox Rampage for his full face though.

flag mikeyridesbikes (Oct 16, 2009 at 10:47)
It's still a Fox ad though, I would have thought that Fox would ask them to take their helmets off for the interview unless they were payed not to or wwanted to promote safety or something like that.

flag brule Mod Plus (Oct 16, 2009 at 11:08)
RIders have various sponsors for different parts that's a given. Cam has a signature model DJ lid by TSG as does Mr. Zink (he rides for Troy Lee). McCaul has been with Fox since he turned pro, at that time they did not have a dedicated DJ lid, so he just like the other Fox riders got picked up with other helmet manufacturers.

Fox needs to go back to the drawing board on that body armor. Just as weak as the older version. More fluff than plastic. Rather own a Knox Warrior, and I do. Also I find the older Grio mad max helmets to look a hell of a lot better than these bulbous bobble head pieces that every maker copies. Not to mention you can pick up a carbon one for 125.

That skate lid is craaazy light. Their AM/FR half-shell is really really impressive though, pity it isn't featured here. Feels fantastic.
