During the Kokanee Crankworx Festival on July 19th, the GLC overlooking the Whistler bike park will host the world premiere event. The new film features 12 of your favourite riders that made the trip to the Freeride HQ in Nelson BC to edit their all time segment covering a decade of riding and filmmaking. Never before have the stars of NWD come together to choose their favourite shots, talk openly about the origins of freeriding and share some of the funny moments and behind the scenes out-takes from creating the game changing series of films.

Frorider and MTB Hall Of Famer Wade Simmons.

"The NWD series dropped the hammer on progression, so hard, that most of the riding still holds it's own years later. I've always thought NWD captured the true "all or nothing" lifestyle of freeriding." Aaron Chase

"Filming for the NWD series was a highlight of my career, watching all of the footage at the Freeride headquarters got me really excited to show fans the history and progression of the sport that I'm proud to be a part of." Jeff Lenosky

bigquotesThe pure goal of this film is to fire up the riding community by putting all of our best shots from 10 years into one film, chosen & directed by the riders themselves. - Derek Westerlund

Freeride Entertainment on Facebook facebook.com/FreerideEntertainment will feature additional exclusive content and ticket giveways to the World Premiere screening at Crankworx.

Leading up to the film's release, exclusive condensed interviews will be posted online @ Pinkbike every Monday, with the riders providing the insight behind it all.

The DVD extras accompanying the film are once in a lifetime interviews with the riders discussing their favourite moments and the early days of filmmaking. This historical film comes in a limited edition dvd packaging complete with a 24 page full color booklet and will be available mid- July via iTunes, WAX and Freeride Entertainment.

The NWD series seems to be done for now... but at least I still have the first NWD on vhs! 3 star cover shot, whew! haha. Oh and they're coming out with Where the Trail Ends sooo I'm expecting something slightly epic.

NWD III was the first freeride film I ever watched and it got me into riding. I am eternally thankful for that. These movies define us!!!!
  • 1 0
Oh if only Sam Brown was still with us today...
  • 1 0
I would sell my bike to see josh bender do the jah drop
  • 2 0

That Wade Simmons jump, is one of the most iconic frames of NWD and the reason of many of us trying to push the limits on those old times
  • 2 0
Yes it is...the Godfather himself...NWD 3 got me motivated to get my first bike...none other than a RM7
  • 2 0
Bourdon's flatspin section in 9 was one of the best for me
  • 2 0
^^ agreed, his segment just got you so fired up,so as soon as it finished i would always quick go grab my bike and head to the jumps while i was still stoked!
  • 2 0
That was pretty epic too but man still it's hard to top Simmons cleaning that monster truck gap like it was nothing. The thing was HUGE. Made it look so easy then you realized it wasn't when Bender stacked it...

I can remember the first films, my brother would watch them over and over and go to the bar and tell everyone about mountain biking and ripping his bike every day. It has really been the start of so much good for so many people. Cheers guys! Can't wait!

Def on the list to get, I loved the earlier NWD series, riding free defined, after NWD 5 or 6 I think it got a little dirt jump orientated for my liking and the big mountain freeriding segments seemed to get shorter.
.
Still some wikid action and riders of all those years, but Wade, Ritchie, Robbie B, and all the other big mountain riders that made these films showing us what was possible, totally inspiring.

I enjoy dirt jumping mtb at times but feel over saturated by it all, and I used to DJ too, some great riding and sequences for sure, but I love or connect more with big mountain or racing sequences, I could watch Wade, Ritchie and Robbie B Steve Rom, AC and the other big mountain freeride guys all day.

Brian Lopes and company with Cedric in British Columbia gorge "Have You Seen It" segment was great entertainment with the Yeti kidnapping the riders etc haha, The extra's of NWD 8! NWD did awesome extra's, almost enjoy extra's as much if not more than films.

Cheers NWD for not short changing us on supporting your DVDs, always felt like getting real value buying the DVD, long live the DVD in HD, BR or 3D...

But for me Wade rulz forever that Zocchi truck jump will forever be the best biggest and baddest & Ritchie Slayer and Wade together unforgettable sequences.

I'm buying this one as soon as its out, be great to see them all mashed together AWESOME..

NWD 3 changed me from a cross country rider into a freerider. Does this mean there won't be a box set? Please let it be longer than all the rest. Even two hours would not be enough unless heavily edited.
  • 2 0
EPIC!!! this is what got me into mountainbiking and it deserves big respect, its the reason you ride even if you dont know it yourself, its becouse this was is the reason the sport is big and thats why you found out about it, even if you hadnt seen the movies Wink
  • 6 0
 Sam and his hamster wheel?
  • 2 1
Not to be a dick, but the riders edit their own sections of all their footage from NWD, and Sam can't do that due to obvious circumstances...
  • 2 0
Yeah... they should have done a little Tribute to him though, or something...
  • 2 0
So true that NWD helped propel our sport to the levels it is at today. These movies changed mine & ,many other view of what can be done on a bicycle in the woods. Looking forward to this movie & thanx to Freeride Ent. for all you have doen for us the riders.

What rock and roll did for music this did for mountain biking. I don't think that's an exaggeration.
  • 2 0
Those movies are awesome but, Greatest Hits = we need some money so let re release already seen footage and call it Greatest Hits
  • 1 0
 agreed
  • 4 0
Old shool hucking... those drops were hella big
  • 2 0
The stuff in the earlier films seems even bigger than the newest stuff. Its cool to see that the big old school hucks are still as impressive as they were years ago.
  • 2 0
Another NWD DVD to add to my NWD stash - now the collection is complete! =)
