If it's not a race run, you should say something to let the other riders know you're behind them. Maybe say, "Passing on your left." With the wind in your ears you can't hear someone behind you and could cut them off at just the wrong time and really hurt some kid. Good manners is always a good idea. If it is an actual race run, by all means go as fast as you can, but I would still warn them I'm passing.
Even lopes admits to being a dick sometimes, but when you have people comin up and your trying to get in the zone for a race it's a pain, everybody gets agitated when they're focused and someone interrupts, he has appologized openly for this and asked that people catch him after a race or at the bar
anyone remember that troy brosnan leogang practice run video? when he was stuck behind slow people, he slowed up, cleared his throat in an attempt to let them know he was behind them, and didn't pass until they moved over. does this particular video make lopes an a*shole? no. but, just shows brosnan's class, and that there is a "right way" to go about things.
Ive raced at races where B Lopes has been racing. He is the cycling communities biggest DICK pro Cycler. I thought this was common knowledge. Both on and off the bike.
People on Pinbike are very polite. In South Africa we like each other so much we try and get close so that our back wheel almost touches the other riders front wheel and hope he will fall. Anyway, would you really mind if Brian Lopes passed you? It is like being kicked by Chuck Norris and surviving. Its awesome!!!!

At race for Tara a couple years ago at north star he lost to a local and started bitching to her and said that he should of won and he was hella pissed and was being a bitch about
Sounds like he's a racer... I mean most of us love racing but we're not as passionate about it as Lopes so its not surprising if he would be upset about losing a race that he thinks he should have won. I don't see why that's a big deal either because what happens at/during races doesn't mean that's who he is all the time. Its a race, you're allowed to be a little dick-ish. Some people take it super seriously and treat it as a very important event, others treat it as a really, really fun time. It all depends on what makes you happy at the end of the race.
I'm in no way advocating cussing out a lady. If that did happen then geeze... what a donkulous move.

He could've at least said "on your right" or "on your left". Thats what i do when passing someone. Let them know your there so it doesn't end up in a crash. Two objects cannot occupy the same space at the same time.

yeah... he probs should hav said something, but it was a safe spot to cross past him compared to the rest of the track and he was trying to show how quick it was so leave the guy alone

Amazing run. Passing the last guy on the inside line around the corner would be tough, loose and your are doing 30+mph through there. Passing on aline is totally legit if its clean.

Funny thing is A-line is just way, way more fun at a slower pace and popping the lips. Watching him scrub the lip at tombstone and not boost made me cringe - obviously it's faster but that lip is just so much frickin fun!!
man i have always liked lopes ( not that i know him personally ) but he didnt have to pass those dudes like a prick...they could have closed that specific trail/line for 10 minutes so he can make his run...instead he almost smoked or hurt atleast 5 dudes in that video....hes still fast as balls but ive lost some respect for him now

What's scary is that some of the Pros in the Air DH event were finishing in 4:25+. That whole video, including the waiting behind the slow kids came to 4:39. I reckon he can ride A-line in 4:00 if he tries...
So so fast and smooth, his head barely moves. Reminds me of a Cheetah chasing a gazelle, absolutely gob smacked watching this video. If Brian lopes over took me i think i would be honoured lol.
