Review: GoldToothMafia Bashguard

A bashguard? What specifically is a bashguard? Oh, well it’s the metal ring thingy that guards your front rings from being damaged when you hit something. The ‘hoody ding ding’.
Most riders don’t take too much notice of their bashguard. There is always mention of someone’s new King wheelset, X.0 drivetrain or even their waterbottle holder with a ‘HardCore’ sticker on it. But never have I been in a trailside discussion group involving bashguards. Unbelievably, he/she (whatever gender a bashguard is) is the little mighty worker by your smelly feet, dealing with your mistakes, cut up by your chain, and left unnoticed. A poor little thing.

Finally, for all you abused bashguards out there, your time has come! Presenting to you straight from the boys out of Hillsboro, Oregon, comes a magical piece of componentry set to melt the hearts of all gearwhores out there and bring your species the love and attention that you require. The Golden bashguard. This is guaranteed to grab attention or your money back*. There is no spacebreaking technology or nano-moleculiallalal breakthroughs. Just a hand crafted, locally made, laser engraved and beautifully anodized bashguard.
Between my new learnt tricks of crank stalls and crank grinds, this puppy has still been able to flash me that unforgettable golden-toothed smile from day one.
If gold isn’t your thing, the boys at GTM also craft the bashguard in Rock Black and Bonzai Red. If that still isn’t your thing, the Mafia crew can hook you up with CUSTOM colours and engraving. These come in your choice of 34 (150mm. outside diameter), 38 (168 mm. outside diameter) and 42 (185 mm. outside diameter) tooth sizes with the standard 4-bolt (104mm.) spacing. Don’t worry, the ranch hands down in Hillsboro do NOT abuse these bashguards and feed them generously on a daily basis with the 34T coming in at a fatness of 6mm. and weighing 150 grams, 38T at a fatness of 5mm. and 132 grams and the 42T at a fatness of 5mm. and 155 grams, respectively. And all is nicely packaged in a 6061-T6 space age alloy body.
Pricing is $40 USD for the standard bashguards and custom engraving and colours start at $50 USD. They also make apparel for those abused jerseys and hoodies out there.
