AFD Racing is excited to launch the Gravity Cup Downhill Mountain Bike Race Series. The 1st race is June 17th, 2012 in Hinton AB, and the 2nd race of the series is July 15th in Whitehorse YT. Registrations will be accepted for each race separately meaning you can register and race in both events or choose one event to race (e-mail: info@afdracing.ca).

These events will have a high energy, fun atmosphere, perfect for people who love to ride and have a good time. Keeping everyone up to speed on event details throughout the weekend will be the only person suited for the job; Mountain Bike Legend and ‘Director of Good Times’ himself, Brett Tippie!

Geoff Gulevich, who has confirmed his status as one of the world’s best freeriders will be a Guest of Honour at Gravity Cup #1 in Hinton. Gully will be testing and riding the race course along with all race participants during pre-rides on June 16th.

Eager to give back to the community in which he grew up, Dylan Sherrard is looking forward to being a part of AFD Racing’s Gravity Cup # 2 in Whitehorse. Dylan will be tearing it up during pre-rides on July 14th as well as judging the Dirt Jump Competition.

Each race course will be designed to be technically challenging for top level riders as well encourage novice riders and weekend warriors to participate. AFD Racing will be supporting a local charity where $10 of every entry fee will be donated.

$5000 in cash prizes as well as tons of cool swag will be awarded at Gravity Cup #2 in Whitehorse where 1st place in the Elite Men’s category will be awarded $1000! Gravity Cup #1 in Hinton will be awarding $3000 in cash prizes in addition to the awesome gear donated by sponsors like Dakine, Giro and Cove Bikes.

Traveling to Whitehorse is made easy and affordable through Air North with direct flights to Whitehorse. For more information, check out www.flyairnorth.com. West Jet will also have flights to Whitehorse starting in May.

In Alberta, Mountain Madness Tours is transporting people and their bikes in style for $285 round trip! (e-mail info@afdracing.ca for all the details).

Once in Whitehorse, participants and spectators of the Gravity Cup are encouraged to stay at the Town and Mountain for a reduced rate of $119 / night. Be sure to reference the Gravity Cup DH Race when making your reservation.

The Gravity Cup # 2 race course in Whitehorse will be at Mt. Sima which offers racers full chairlift and facility access. The fastest riders will complete the technical course in 4+ minutes. Mt. Sima has great spectator viewing spots as well as a restaurant, bar, patio and WildPlay Yukon including the Zoom Zipline and Monkido Aerial Ropes Course (www.mountsima.com).

The trail in Hinton is coming along really well - It's very rugged and steep in some sections. Check out some photos:
