Words by Mike Hopkins, Photography / Video by Dave Peacock

Fog

It's late June and if you are a fortunate resident of the fine province of British Columbia, you will know it's been a fort night or two, since we last saw the sun. Words to describe the past month would line up something like this... Rainy, pounded, poured, soaked, saturated, soggy, pruned, pickled, to put it bluntly wet became an understatement two weeks ago. "Spring 2012" has officially been retitled "Monsoon Season".

But like most weather woes, one hits a point where he accepts the soak, spins wheels, splits puddles, and has a smashing good time. I teamed up with Gravity and my buddy Dave Peacock to set out to have some fun in nature’s sweat lodge. Four days, two days of digging, two days of filming, and one hell of a good time amidst a sky full of soggy assailants. Boom! Monsoon Season ain't so bad. Love the Soak.

yeah, and talk about a well coordinated kit- the red on his shock and forks with the red on his gloves and gogs, and the rest is obvious

Some constructive critisism on the film:

Obviously this was an awesome trail, But we didn't get to see much of it. Many shots were cut out so you didn't see the trail at all just i bike flying around. I would have liked to see some more of the trail so I can relate to how he's riding.

And there were too many repeated shots at each "feature". Sometimes you have to "kill your darlings" a little bit and choose wich shots you like the most. The video looses a lot of flow with all the repeating.

Great song though and some of the shots are truly amazing just wanted to share my opinions Smile

Have to agree with you there, repeated shots got pretty annoying. I'm guessing the trail was quite short though. Steeze was not in short supply however.

^ It was pretty damned good for a promotional edit... you can't expect insane, movie-quality trails every time it has a certain rider's name pinned to it. Hopkins has one of the best styles in the game and that alone made it an awesome edit.

I totally enjoyed this vid but have to agree that 8 shots of that hip was at least 4 too many no matter how rad it was.

maxeponken I was about to jump on with the same critisism. There were some killer shots in there, the last one was amazing and really finished it off well. But the repetition and obscure angles showing very little trail, coupled with the camera moving at 1 bajillion miles an hour at points meant we saw very very little of the actual riding. scott-townes, he started saying constructive critisism, and he gave it. No need to defend anything.

I'm sorry but all I think about when someone whips into a tree is Beauty form Cannonball Run saying "I like trees Big Grin "

Also I think Mike is a great fit for the Norco team; love his style!

Sometimes you can't avoid it, but at least try to go around growing saplings? Wasn't too fond of the unnecessary bush wacking in this one...
