Hurtin' for Vert 2009 - Part 3 of 4
The wrangling of riders (aka herding cats) is getting tougher on day 3 as our guide informed us to be ready to roll out for 930AM, but 2/3 of the crew must have missed that part and found their way back post breakfast at 1030. Now we'd have to book it in order to get the Paper Bag ride in and then be at the beach for our 1PM heli pick up. Yep today is all about helicopters and bicycles. They really do go hand in hand!
Many glorious pics and very few words inside,

Paper Bag - 14km (from Mike's house), climb and descend 1800'
I can't lie to you all, Paper Bag is so far from a trail that I enjoy riding that I will likely never return to ride it again. Thankfully Nelson has so many trails that I'll never have to worry about that predicament in the near future. The best part was it being over and sitting on a beach awaiting the best thing in mountain biking - helicopters! Pat from Dirt Tours had made arrangements for our whole crew to be flown up and over the lake into the mountains in order to ride the Burn and Beyond, to Hitman to Doz Slabs. Ryan Kuhn made the trip up from Rossland to join us for today and will be our guide in his home town tomorrow. The crew will always remember this portion of the trip.
Burn & Beyond, etc - 19km to Kokanee, 5150' descent
Bikes loaded and heading way up:
The crew was pretty shattered after a huge day like they'd experienced but it was time to clean up and hit the road for Rossland. We all packed up our gear from Mike's place and hit the road to Ryan and Nicola's wonder pad in the south. Thanks to Pat for organizing the big day for everyone. Check back in a few days for the last installment of our Kootenay tour.

These hurting for vert posts make me sick to my stomache. I'd kill for this!!! And the fact that you got some beach time in makes it that much better! Great shots!
the place is epic there would be NO biking up there without these roads so it's a good thing on the biking frontier
Don't listen to Tyler about the Bag. If you like technical riding, super cool rock slabs, and a good descent, it's the shiz. One of the coolest trails in the Koots, and awesome for anyone who likes a bit of up with their down. Totally worth a trip.
Heli at the bottom just makes if more fun.

I agree with Smoke, Paper Bag is well worth the climb and has some super fun tech riding. The DH at the end is flowy and fast. Only downside might be the pedal on the railgrade back to town...but the heli fixed that!
